This is a small older motel that is very functional and sits on a prime piece of land directly across from the ocean and only two minutes walk to a number of bars and restaurants. The actual motel itself is pretty old but functional with a flat screen tv, aircon, fridge and microwave plus a great deal of cutlery and dishes which is greatly appreciated. Each room I believe has its own little balcony which is cool to. Even though it is an older type place and not the prettiest it is in such a great spot and it has more things that you can actually find useful in your room than flasher motels do that cost you more money. off street parking is also good.
I needed the brake pads and some bearings replaced the other day urgently and these guys got me straight in. They originally rang me early in the day with what they thought the cost and problems would be. When I came in that afternoon they had been able to do they job for a couple hundred cheaper and repaired some of the parts. The service was good and prompt and they communicated with me well the whole time which was appreciated. These guys are also the RACQ affiliated workshop for Townsville.
These guys have a sweet spot for a meal and beer which looks directly over the water and onto ross river. There are tvs a nice deck and a few pool tables for people to entertain themselves with. There are a few vibes going on here with the out door deck. A bar area and also a little lounge style area also. Not a bad place to begin your evening and have some fun before heading further into town as the night gets older. The meal cost for smaller lighter meal options is around $15 which isn't to bad. Other meals are probably slightly more expensive than most bars but also on the flashier side to.
The Brewery is a very boutique bar that has been flashed up over the years. These guys do great local brews which for me is the main attraction. you often get a professional type crowd here with people dressed up. It is on the more expensive side of other bars and the pub food is boutique style. Still a very nice place to have a beer.
I have had take away lunch and dinner on a few occasions with this little business and they are fantastic. They are very accommodating with different types of burgers and rolls I ask them to make as I am a little fussy and the chip serving sizes are extremely good. They don't have eftpos here but there is an atm in the shop next door.
A few of my friends regularly go this fish and chip shop for their Friday night dinner and they are always raving over how good the fish and chips are and the serving size. I went there myself the other evening and was suitably impressed by the value for money with serving sizes and freshness of my burger and chips. The owner also threw in some chicken wings free of charge because it was getting close to the end of the night. The young girls she has helping her are polite and keep very busy. A great local business and one who I can see puts back into the community by the amount of people coming in who she knows by first name.
The quality of food that these guys provide and customer service is the worst I have seen anywhere in any developed country. Food in the hot box is often over cooked and burnt. Staff refuse to provide fresh food unless you buy all of the old burnt stuff in the hot box. Unfriendly, insincere and terribly over priced (generally I understand and don't mind the prices but the service in other stores is nothing like this) An extremely disappointing experience
Approximate cost: $7
Solid service station food with freshly cooked burgers etc available. Just south of the Marlborough township turnoff. Eating space inside and outside of the service station with good toilet facilities.
Had a great steak burger there on the way up north the other day. The salad and bread was very fresh and was nicely made. There was a very good range of take away food prepared and is just off the road in a perfect spot for a break off the highway.
Tried a few pies from this bakery the other day. Enjoyed the fresh pastry but the pies were a little salty for my liking. My father did enjoy his pie more though so depends on your taste buds. While not buying any cakes or pastries today they did look extremely nice.
Approximate cost: $5
