The Anchorage provides very basic but comfortable and friendly accommodation in Weipa where these days accommodation is generally very hard and expensive to find. The Anchorage rooms are basically small dongas attached together that all have a small single bed, tv, desk and bar fridge. Bathing facilities are communal and around a 5-10m walk from your room but all undercover. There are many communal outdoor/indoor open areas where you can watch tv, movies, play pool or other board games. The anchorage also has wifi which you can access. The hosts are very good people and the last time I was there they even had a cold beer waiting for me in the fridge. The anchorage is probably about 6 minutes drive from the centre of town and around 13 minutes from the airport.

I have been to Paddys on a few different occasions when visiting Airlie beach for mixed results. Sometimes when they have a good live band the place will be very packed out with a great atmosphere and good priced drinks but other times it can be a bit of a ghost town. I think because it doesn't open till 8pm and there is only a small dance floor people often walk past it. It is definitely worth stopping in and checking out though as it is only a minute walk from some of the other major airlie beach night spots and you never know what you might find as every night is Friday night in airlie :)

Beaches Bar and Grill offers quick freshly made pub style grub at very affordable prices. While predominantly catering to backpackers staying at the hostel sharing the same site it is also a favourite among locals for a quick cheap bite to eat. The service is always friendly and you cant help but feel relaxed like you are on holidays even when you aren't while you are sitting there. If you go during the evening there will be regularly different event nights, dancing, games and competitions being held. There are also pool tables for those who like a social game, just expect a bit of a lean on them.

I have stayed at the Whitsunday vista resort on at least four different occasions and have never been disappointed with my room or the service. Each time I have been placed in a room which overlooks the harbour and i can sit on my private balcony with cup of coffee in hand as i read the paper at breakfast and catch the morning breeze straight off the ocean. The rooms are very spacious for a couple and have pay tv and a good sized fridge. Being about 10 minutes walk from town also sees the Whitsunday vista being a good place to be close to the action but far enough away to still get a good nights rest. Parking can be a little tricky driving up the steep driveway but if you go slow it is all good. There is a restaurant on site but i have never eaten there mainly because there are a plethora of other dining options in town. I highly recommend the spa suites overlooking the ocean for a romantic style getaway.

This place is definitely paradise for rum drinkers. They purportedly have over 450 different types of rum available and when I look at their rum wall I have no doubt that that is the case. It is a great place with some nice views to have a few drinks to begin your evening at Airlie Beach. It is a very up market bar and prices probably reflect that but you are paying for what you are getting and the service and quality of liquor is without fault. I never fail to stop in for a few drinks at the Rum Bar when visiting Airlie.

I have visited Mangrove Jacks on more than half a dozen occasions now and I have always considered it much more of a beach sports bar than a café bar. The setting itself looks quite nice with you getting a lovely breeze from the tables. The food generally comes out in very decent sized portions and tastes pretty good (on a par with most other better quality pub grub meals) There is also a TAB and pokies room for those who wish to try their luck. I have always found the bar and wait staff to be very friendly and competent in their jobs.

Okay so this is a hostel, bar, nightclub, restaurant and travel agency all rolled into one huge party place. The accommodation is very cheap and very basic with the emphasis being on everyone being able to socialize. They have a huge open outdoor bar area and there is also a nighclub which opens is the evenings on premises. The place regularly packs out with locals and tourists alike and is never at all dull if you are looking to have a good time. There are different novelty competitions always being run, all the sports from around the world you can see on the big outdoor TVs on request and the staff are mainly made up of other international travellers whom have discovered this little piece of Australian paradise. Drinks and food are all good pub prices and standards. Airlie is definitely a party town and a must do for any visitor to Australia.

Simmons bakery and coffee shop has been part of the staple diet for locals in the Biloela area for decades. Simmons opens early in the morning in time for you to get a nice hot pie, pastie or fresh loaf of bread for breakfast which cant be beaten. They also do a huge array of buns, cakes and slices. You have the option of dining in or taking away and if you want some for later they always do good deals on bulk buys so you can heat up one of their pies for a midnight snack. The ladies working behind the counter always serve you with a friendly smile and their service is second to none.

The evergreen bistro is an awesome place to eat. I have had the pleasure of dining here on business on a number of occasions and have been extremely impressed with the quality, freshness and size of the meals. I always end up having to flip a coin as to whether I want their succulent steaks or their ribs. The side salads are always fresh and crisp and their different gravies always have me wanting to lick the plate lol. The evergreen bistro is attached to the Weipa bowls club and is also a great place to have a bet on the pokies or keno and offers full bar facilities. The service is always friendly and prompt. Definitely a must do place to eat if you're visiting Weipa.

Settlers Hotel/Motel caters for local and tourist alike with a wide range of facilities. Settlers boasts quite a respected restaurant which serves quality meals at affordable prices with the bonus of having fresh salad and vegetable bars which patrons can then add more healthy food items at their discretion to their meals. Settlers restaurant opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week but to be sure of getting in, in a timely fashion it may pay to book on popular nights of the week. Settlers also boast a public bar which has a pub tab and also a nightclub style area. Settlers regularly holds functions for businesses through to private birthday parties. Service is always quick and friendly across the board and you will find a vast arrange of different people frequenting settlers from business professional's to local tradesmen and contract workers.
