The Strand is Yeppoon's premier pub and overlooks the beautiful main beach which is only a stone's throw away from the main bar. You cannot help but be relaxed when you sit down here and feel the ocean breeze as you enjoy your food or a cold beer. The Strand has been renovated in recent years and has a nice upmarket touch without losing its beach style local friendliness. The only draw back I have for the Strand Hotel is the price range of the meals. The meals do taste good and are fresh but this is not the place to go if you're on any type of budget at all. So unfortunately in this instance the Strand probably prices themselves out of the market for a lot of working families on a weekly basis. Apart from that though if you can afford it, you will always enjoy yourself and not be disappointed at the Strand Hotel.

Frosty Mango is definitely the premier place in North QLD to get local tasty tropical ice cream. These guys have a huge array of home made flavours made from local products right here in NQ. They also have a significant range of jams, preservatives and other freshly made fruit and salad type items so you can take home that little piece on Tropical NQ with you and keep enjoying. Frosty Mango is located in the perfect location between Townsville and Ingham to pull over and stretch your legs while discovering some on the North QLDs feature delights.
This is a nice little setting just outside of Townsville and I highly recommend it as a quiet place to fill up your car and grab a feed outside of town. The roadhouse makes some awesome home made pies and other meals which is why I make this my first port of call when hitting the road heading south. The service can be a bit slow at times but the home cooked meals are worth the wait as far as im concerned. The Roadhouse also has some camping facilities next to it with showers and toilet facilities available.
The Glenmore is a pretty honest sort of tavern where you can get a variety of different people depending on the day. Being close to CQU you can often get students living in the area but there is also always plenty of tradies coming in for a beer the later the day gets. There is a reasonable selection of main and lighter meals available in the bar and eating areas. Prices and qualities of meals are fair to good and are by no means disappointing. They also do a good deal for the kids and have a play area and activities for them to help give mum and dad some peace and quiet. The service is generally pretty good, though when it gets busy patience is definitely a virtue worth having.
I must say I quite enjoyed my steak at the allies last time I was there. I found it cooked mw to perfection and I would love to know the recipe for the gravy as it was mouth watering. I find that the size of the meals are pretty standard for what you pay and the atmosphere in my experience has always been friendly and jovial. They have plenty of good promotions and deals on to for people keeping to a budget and families are definitely made welcome there. The Allies is also a place where you can watch the footy and I also see it televises some of the UFC fights also which not all pubs offer.
The Biloela RSL is probably my favoured spot to catch up with for a meal with family on a special occasion when in Biloela. I am never disappointed with the steaks and salads that I order and desert is always nice and sweet if you can ever fit it in after a larger than average portion sized meal. The staff are always very accommodating to visitors and locals alike and ensure that everyone is well looked after. It is a good place to watch the footy with many TVs available in the public bar so that you don't miss your favourite team playing. I know the RSL also supports many worthwhile local community projects/events in the local area so you're dollars spent are helping the local people at a grass roots level. A quality place to have a meal or just drop in to have a drink in comfort.
The Hermit Park hotel is a small quiet hotel with a good local following in its local area. I occasionally visit the Hermit Park on a Saturday afternoon where I enjoy their hospitality and some nice cold beers with friends while trying to win some money on the horses. Win, lose or draw though the beer is always cold. The HP also has a pokies room where you can also try your luck. The staff are always friendly and quick to refresh your glass.
The Herbert has become a little bit more up market over the last few years after some significant renovations brightening the place up and really opening up the outside beer garden dining type area. The Herbert offers different freshly cooked pub grub lunch specials which plenty of inner city office workers avail themselves off on extended lunches. The Herbert regularly has live music evenings and has a very regular clientele of loyal customers. You could do worse then trying the Herbert out for a lunch time special one day.

The Bushland Beach Tavern is my favourite place to bring family and friends out to dinner when they visit the Townsville area. For starters the setting of the place could not get any better as you walk from the outdoor eating area across the grass where the kids can play and straight onto the beach. The food comes in more than an average person can eat portions and across the steaks, and chicken meals I have they are full of flavour. Their is also a public bar and pokermachines and tab room also. The Tavern also has accommodation and is a perfect place to stay if you have kids when visiting the Townsville area. A very relaxed and friendly venue for drinks or a meal.

As with most airport food businesses these guys have a relatively small selection of items at a very big premium compared to outside the airport. The staff are friendly and the food ranges from freshly made to quick hot box stuff that you can eat on the go. While none of the food is bad or off putting it's not a destination I would be specifically going to eat and the prices do make you wish you had eaten before you left home. The facilities and the bar are the best part to avail yourself of if you have a couple of hours to wait or layover.
