My family and I love going to this Big4 park and spending a lazy weekend there. The site sizes are very generous and the amenities blocks are clean. Excellent BBQ areas, and the kids playground area is particularly good, with the giant pillow/trampoline thingy copping an absolute flogging from kids of all ages. The staff are generally pretty good, though they are quick to point the finger if they suspect you've done something not-quite-right (hasnt happened to me but has to my brother in law). I havent had issues with them so far however. With its location - close to the beach and right on the Great Ocean Road, which opens you up to all the possibilities that that brings (including a lot of Koala spotting if that is your thing) - this is an excellent location to spend some time camping and I thoroughly recommend it.

Great store that really fills a service hole in the Wye River area. It stocks a heap of products, which if you are camping and you've forgotten something (which happens to me all the time) then it comes in handy. Its not cheap though, as if you wanted to go somewhere else you have to travel either to Apollo Bay or to Lorne, so either way its a bit of a distance, so they've got themselves a bit of a captive market like that. That said its a great store and a credit to the Wye River area.

The raspberries and blueberries farmed here are very tasty. I love getting the big punnets of frozen raspberries, which are great on a very hot day. The fresh ones are juicy and flavoursome. Good prices for a seriously good product.

When in Jamieson you'd be mad not to stop in and grab a coffee at Perkins and Grey. And the muffins! Wow they are amazing, especially the raspberry and white chocolate ones. It's not particularly cheap but it's worth the price.

Mansfield Zoo was definitely a surprise. It's got a good range of animals, domestic and exotic. The lions are obviously the highlight but they have monkeys and bison as well, and a large number of "free range" animals like kangaroos, sheep, goats, llamas etc. The owners are very friendly and enjoy a chat and showing you around. It's no Melbourne or Werribee zoo - its smaller and friendlier.

This gem of a pub ticks all the boxes - its in a stunning location on the river, it's old and absolutely dripping with character, the beer is cold, the counter meals are great and the restaurant is surprising excellent, the staff are friendly, the hotel rooms are clean, and it has a camping ground right next to it. It's an effort to get there, but it's well worth the trip.

The Court House Hotel is a great place to go for a counter meal and have a few beers with your mates. The meals are generously portioned if a little uninspired - its pretty typical country pub food fare, but is still nice despite this. I've yet to be disappointed with a meal that I've had there. The pub bit itself is fine - standard beers on tap, pool table etc. Good little take away bottle shop as well, if expensive.

This boutique brewery creates some damn fine beers, the standout of which is the raspberry ale (which tastes far better than it sounds - take the word of a beer lover on this). Because of its popularity however there are times when it's not available. The brewery serves excellent counter meals and also sells some very yummy fudge.

We go here every year in the summer school holidays and get a powered site right on the Jamieson River. It's a medium sized park with BBQ facilities and a swimming pool (though swimming in the river is better in my opinion), and the toilet amenities are always clean and well serviced. It's got loads of trees so there's plenty of shade, and it's walking distance to the general store and the Jamo pub. The owners are fantastic as well - they've really helped make the caravan park an even better place to stay. Powered, non-powered and cabin sites available.

The dining area is unfortunately small however they do have outdoor seating as well, which is handy if the weather is warm enough. The food is classic Williamstown cafe and the prices aren't the cheapest but still pretty reasonable. Good produce as well - its like a little mini providore in there. Well worth a visit (providing you manage to get indoors in winter!).
