Been here twice now for lunchtime yum cha and both times I've been impressed with the quality of the food and the service that they have. The wait staff are very attentive and efficient. The food is very nice. This definitely isn't your average yum cha! The dining area is split between upstairs and downstairs and whilst the decor is very dated (and a little daggy) it's clean.
We love the zoo, and have been members of the Friends Of The Zoo for years. The range of animals on display is quite large, though some of them you'll struggle to see (like the tigers, and the Pygmy hippo for instance). The enclosures are amazing - particularly the elephant, orangutan, and the new seal enclosure. It's a big day, so if you've got really young ones then make sure you've got something to wheel them around in because they'll get tired and you'll end up carrying them otherwise. Plenty of places to buy food and drink but it's all really expensive so you're better off bringing a packed lunch. The Zoo is a great place to spend a few hours with the kids. Love it.
It's small, but perhaps "cozy" might be a better word for it. Lustre Lounge is a great place for after work drinks. It has comfy couches to sit on and the little balcony is awesome for taking in the view down on Flinders Lane, though you have to put up with the smokers to do so. Drinks are well priced and the staff are friendly enough. Toilets are a bit on the barbaric side (well, the gents anyway. I can't speak for the ladies), but that's a minor quibble. All up I give Lustre Lounge the big thumbs up!
Once you make it past the owner, who can be a little bit eccentric but is mostly nice, then you have available to you a vast range of wines to select. The prices aren't cheap but then because they stock primarily superior wines this isn't unexpected. Also stocks a very solid range of boutique and imported beers.
The location is undeniably awesome, and the venue itself is pretty good - always plenty of staff on hand, and the bouncers have some personality which is always a good thing. It does attract it's fair share of tools though, and the drinks prices are outrageous enough to make Transport only a sometimes place to go, rather than a regular place to have a drink.
LOVE Air Asia! Their planes are new and in excellent condition. They are always clean and well maintained. The leg room is fine as long as you're not 6 foot 7. The service isn't fantastic but at the same time for a budget airline it's perfectly adequate. The meals are excellent - you've just got to remember to order them beforehand. Best of all - they're CHEAP! The prices are amazingly low. I've flown air Asia for the last 2 years and am about to take off with them again. I might not fly with them to London but to Asia I'd be hard pressed flying with anyone else.
They don't only print photos here but they are also framers. I've had a couple of things framed here recently - a canvass that we got from Laos and some signed rugby shirts for my sons, all of which were done expertly and professionally. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and the Presentation Place will certainly be getting my business again.
Just in Degraves Street amongst the cafes there is this very well stocked arts supplies store, with reasonable prices and staff that know what it is they are selling and that are quite happy to lend their knowledge and experience if you have questions regarding your art project. Good range of paints and card, as well as all other mediums of art. Well worth a look if you are into this sort of thing. Excellent range of paint brushes as well!
Its not easy to find, given that its in a basement, but its a cool, gritty little book store that specialises in crime fiction but in reality sells 2nd hand books of all genres. There are some old books on sale in here, mostly in good condition. Staff are generally friendly.
The aquarium is a great place for all ages. The shark tank alone is worth the visit - its awesome, and for a price you can scuba dive with the sharks, though it's really not cheap. Actually the aquarium itself isn't particularly cheap to visit, which is really the only downside of it. Everything else about it is interesting and fascinating.
