Installed kitchen cupboards and redesigned kitchen for us. As it was only a small job and didn't involve the purchase of any appliances or bench tops, we had a lot of trouble getting someone to do it. We are a couple looking to fully renovate our split-level, second-hand timber-framed house in Mount Waverley, which has an internal area of approximately 280300 m² plus a pool and triple garage, with a maximum total budget of AUD $100,000 including materials and labour. We are seeking a site visit and a detailed itemised quote for major structural works, including knocking down the wall between the upstairs study and adjacent bedroom to create a larger 1518 m² master bedroom with the bedhead facing west, converting the current ground-floor master bedroom and ensuite into a large study or multi-purpose room with the ensuite repurposed as a powder room or tea station, and potentially opening a minor wall in the living area to improve flow. The renovation also includes a full electrical re-wire with track lighting, wall sconces, LED strips and Google Home smart controls; repurposing two living rooms so that one becomes the main living room with a fireplace and feature art wall and the other becomes a 10 m² home gym with a mirror wall and ventilation; maximising kitchen island storage; and adding timber decking, warm lighting and a storage shed around the pool area, with all boards required to be E0/E1 low-formaldehyde materials which we will partly source through Taobao AU and Bunnings. We are aiming for a strong artistic and sculptural feel with low-key luxury, a brick-red and warm neutral palette, textured walls and soft-furnishing murals. Our timeline is to start as soon as permits are approved and move in by April 2026, and we need you to identify any load-bearing walls, recommend a structural engineer, provide guidance with Building and Planning Permits, and share your expected start date, total project duration and photos or references of similar artistic renovations or wall removals you have completed.
