I agree with the review that LL1 has made - I'm a big pie fan and work around the corner from Dinkum, so used to love going there and buying a Chilli Pie. The decor was very old school and had great atmosphere. Since the "upgrade" however not so much. It looks good, but somehow it just doesnt seem as inviting as it used to. Havent noticed any real difference in the quality of the pies - they are still nice.
Some really funky art found here, including works by Kevin Dart and Shag. Always being updated, and the prices arent too bad. Service is a little on the non-existant side, but that could be because they are content to let their customers walk around the shop and let the art speak for itself. Also stocks some off-the-wall posters and some great coffee table books.
I've done an enormous amount of business through Book Depository and have always been very happy with the quality of the product that I get. They offer a huge range of books and prices that are usually half what you would pay here. Once I bought a book that would have cost me $100 here, but on Book Depository it only cost me about $35. The thing was massive and would have probably cost me about $20-$30 in postage alone, but because shipping is free it cost me nothing extra! Yes it may take a couple of weeks but its worth the wait if you are paying so little for your purchase. I have recommended this online store to all my friends and family.
A great little florist with a good range of flowers at good prices. I've purchased several arrangements from there and have always been impressed with the quality and attention to detail.
This is a great little local business, and has become a bit of an institution in Newport. Snowballs stocks an amazing array of chocolates and lollies, and the ice-cream there is beautiful. Kiwis will love it because it also stocks a good range of New Zealand products such as L&P, rashuns, pineapple lumps, and more. The service is always great and the prices are right.
I went to the Anchorage with my wife and another couple and to be honest even though the food was nice I was a little underwhelmed by it. The prices were a bit much I thought, and I felt we were paying more for the location than the quality of the food. The service was very good however, and it's not that the food was bad - we just didn't think it was worth what we paid.
Pizzas are great, service is top notch, bread and dips are second to none - what more can I say about Cedar? Food is great and the quality of it is very good.
Hands down the best steak I have ever had. Lots of other stuff on the menu, but you just can't go past the steak. Comes served with hand cut chips which were fantastic, and a side salad. Unlike a lot of places you don't have to order these as extras - they come out on the plate! The pub is also pretty cool. Ive eaten at the station twice and can't wait to get back there.
I really like the Sun Theatre. Good range of films and the atmosphere is great - I love how it's old school, right down to the seats! All that said, I'll never see another 3D film there again. The boys and I went to see Thor there in 3D and none of the glasses we had worked. I grabbed another 6 pairs from the cart outside (there were 3 of us and I was trying to increase my chances of finding some that worked), but to no avail, so we had to watch the movie and just put up with the blurriness. When I Mentioned it to the staff however they were very apologetic and immediately offered us free tickets, which restored a lot of my faith. So even though I still avoid it for 3D, I prefer to see my 2D films at this unique and excellent theatre.
This is a really great store. They sell everything from artwork (mostly by Anna Blatman) to furniture (which can get pretty expensive but then the quality of it is excellent) to little knick-knacky things that make awesome quirky gifts. I've purchased a lot of things from Love it, from art to salt and pepper grinders to book ends. Always happy with the product and the service provided. The girls in the store always bend over backwards to assist. If you are looking for a shop that offers a great range then Love it is for you.
