This is one of my favorite shops in mackay,I shop there for myself,my kids,my brother, husband and friends.they have men's and ladies clothes, and also teens and younger.the range is shirts, jeans, caps,SnapBack hats, sneakers, hoodies, shorts and dresses.labels are some such as-OG,Dickies,Tapout,Famous and Osiris.the front of the shop always has two racks of sales,I bought an $80 Dickies dress on sale for $25,and get my husband $89.95 Tapout hoodies for $30.they also have Tapout water bottles 2 for $5,great for the kids.the owner is a really nice, genuine lady, she always gives you a great deal, the other staff is always really friendly, easy going.the shop is packed with stuff, and is upstairs at Canelands near the escalators, and elevator.

Gordis is a big open air bar located in the heart of mackay, downstairs is the cafe/bar Gordis, upstairs is its sister club,Karma.Gordis has been around for over ten years, its a solid reliable place in mackay.they have outdoor seating and indoor..indoor can be a bit dingy sometimes and the smell if the alcohol/bar can be a bit much, but its nice and big inside, they have a pool table, jukebox, booths as well as bar stools at the bar.the lunch menu is varied, and they have specials everyday for $7.50 so it's very popular among the locals for a good cheap tasty lunch.the chefs come and o quite a lot though,so one day you can have a brilliant crumbed steak, the next day it may be cooked different and not as good..but it's always a good lunch.the staff are all lovely, most are happy go lucky young people eager to help and very friendly.
Approximate cost: $From $7.50-$25
Porters is a brilliant store, everything you could edible want or need is here, literally from the kitchen sink to beautiful girls room decorations,to fountains plants, screws and nails etc!the staff is amazing, there's heaps of people working there,so you are always helped quickly and effictively.the prices are good, sometimes great, sometimes ok,but well worth going to.its extremely easy to access, they have lots of parking available and the store is huge..if you get lost, the many staff are happy to show you around.
I go to this cafe quite often, even though there isn't much parking, and its on a really busy road.its nice and quiet,as its not the most popular/well known cafe in town.the food here is excellent, and the servings are huge!the biggest bacon and eggs are the biggest in mackay.thr pancakes are divine, the pastas are nice, although they're more restaurant prices then a cafe..as is quite a bit of the food..but again, still a great big feed.the staff are really friendly and eager to please.if this cafe was in a better location,it would really be successful, unfortunately where it is isn't convenient enough.but worth going out of your way too for a really good feed.

The sushi is on plates that go around, almost a like on a little railway,so you can sit down and choose what you like as it goes by.the sushi itself is always fresh, they have lots of variety, and the prices are good.theres also a couple of desserts too, such as a mud cake,or a lemon meringue, again, all fresh and delicious.they also cook meals for you as ordered,as they're super fresh, and they are very nice meals, such as stir fried beef with ginger, teryiaki chicken,or crisp fried prawns, all with rice.not many people know they cook hot meals here, but they're actually some of the best meals in mackay I've had!the service is always great, they will even prepare you a sushi dish if there's none on the "train track"or not enough of what you want.its always packed at lunchtime, inside and also outside on the couple of outside seats/tables available.lastly, they also have an "all you can eat" sushi night once a week, which is very affordable.its also a very kid friendly business!
Approximate cost: $From $3.50-$9.50 per plate
I've been going to Bob Jane for over 5years and am a loyal customer because their service is great!i usually see Trent or Richard, they are always eager to please and ensure that the customer is satisfied.they always get me the best deals when ive bought tyres, gotten wheel alignments and had types replaced.they usually always do it the same day you phone, and are finished the same day.their prices are actually the best in mackay,I phoned 5other p,aces o get quotes for 4 types for my dodge nitro, and bob janes were $400 cheaper then everywhere else!huge saving!
Approximate cost: $From $50-$500 per tyre
I've stayed here a few times over thirteen years I've lived in mackay, and it has steadily remained a great reliable hotel.the rooms are always clean, the pool too, service is greAt.they also have a Chinese restaurant there too now,it's a particularly nice place, and the food is really really good.its located right in town so convenient as.they have lots of parking, and the area is quiet.
Approximate cost: $120 a night
This daycare is the best I've sent my kids too,and the best in mackay, and we've been to a few!the centre is clean, warm when it need to be and cold when it needs to be.they have just had the outside completely rebuilt, the entire area has been fitted out with new slides gardens etc,its really nice and the kids love it.the teachers are wonderful, they always greet you and your child, making your child feel special and appreciated.they take interest in each child, they have excellent learning/teaching program's.the teachers are also extremely skilled, caring and genuine.we only left as my daughter moved onto prep, she still misses her daycare teachers and when we see them in town they still hug her and talk with us.as I said I've been to a few daycares, and this one we were at two years,we stayed because once you find a great centre, you stick to it :)
Approximate cost: $60 day but with government rebate,$30 per day
Pizza is ok,value is good, but service can be improved.they have a lot of really young teens working there, and whilst its admirable they're working hard at that age, they tend to mix orders up,forget this or that, make one instead of two etc..the pizzas themselves are nice, usually cooked well(although if u order anchovies they always forget them)and they have a better range nowadays.i do prefer Dominos to other pizza place all in all but.
Approximate cost: $12
The pizzas here are better then they used to be,and the range is better, but what lets this store down is the service...they always get your order wrong,or make one pizza instead of two etc..a lot of the staff are young 14yr olds,so whilst its great they're working and earning,it doesn't make for fast service and leaves room for a lot of mistakes..I do understand they're just starting and learning;it's just difficult when it's busy, your kids are hungry n whinging etc,and you finally get your order but its wrong :/ still, the pizzas are as always quite cheap, good range and getting better all the time.
Approximate cost: $12
