The service a Belconnen Ski 'n' Board was its strength when we showed up out of the blue late on a Saturday afternoon and wanted to get some ex-rental ski pants and rent out some snow chains. Steve was a true gentleman and the stock that he holds there is pretty impressive. The snow business can't be an easy one in Australia, but this shop and its staff just seem to roll with it regardless. We'll be utilising these guys again.

Grill'd Belconnen - is this one any better or worse than the other franchises that have Grill'd on the sign out the front around the country? I think not, but that isn't to say that it isn't a quality place. The burgers might be 3-4 times that of the big M, but they are certainly 10 times better. The Moroccan Lamb's burger is very good, as is the Summer Sunset Beef burger - fantastico!

Usually, I'd review a place that is really good, or really bad, but China Tea Club is straight down the line. It is not a bad menu, not an outstanding one for that matter. It's an honest place, the staff are always quite nice, the free home deliveries are a great touch too. The wontons in the short soup are nothing to write home about, but lemongrass and garlic pork chops were a hit with the entire family (including toddlers!!!).

While I can't dispute the range of produce available at this deli, I can dispute the prices charged. $17 for a small bag of Persian Fairy Floss... and mark ups across the board for all items for sale. I understand that to have such variety, higher prices must be passed on to the consumer, but there are plenty of other delicatessens in Canberra that don't exploit customers to this extent.

I, like my son, do love a good dumpling. So when a place calls itself a Dumpling House, I form some expectations. Unfortunately, this place didn't meet those expectations - while the service was fast, the quality of the meals was a little to be desired - maybe it was what we ordered, and while some of the dishes were good, those that were fried were absolutely saturated in oil... I haven't ruled out a return visit to give this place the benefit of the doubt... if you have a specific dumpling craving, it is probably a good contender if you're in Canberra.

Excellent food and friendly service, albeit I was taken back to the 1970s with the decor and ambience of Rasa Sayang. The lamb curry was earthy and cooked to perfection. The roti was a little overcooked... but that suited my 19 month old daughter just fine. Wonderful combinations though, with the Chinese / Cantonese dishes really well done also. This place is an unassuming gem that makes the Dickson restaurant scene still pretty impressive.

A recommendation by the bloke at the Dickson Servo stating that it was the 'Best Chinese in Dickson' was hard to ignore, so we gave Kenny's BBQ a go. While we didn't really order much authentic cuisine, it was a great feed - fairly generous portions - with four adults and two children, five dishes including the chicken and salty fish rice was more than enough food, which was at a high quality. Would we go again? No doubt... but only after sampling some of this restaurant's rivals to see if it is actually the best in Dickson.

The Thirsty Crow Brewery is classy, fun and very family or group friendly - we went as a large group in July and it was a night to remember. The woodfired pizzas are as unique as the beers available (yes, you're situated amongst the beer brewing manufacturing equipment - very cool!). Some excellent choices other than pizzas were available such as the anti pasto platter which was mouthwatering. Very confident and friendly service provided - the staff know their product and it is reflected in the service. When in Wagga Wagga, don't miss this place!!!

While the atmosphere of this hotel was quite nice (with a nice log fire and the like), it was let down by some pretty haphazard service and below-par meals for lunch. The chicken burger was underwhelming and the steak burger didn't meet expectations either.

We were warned by one local that Clonakilla was 'one of the snobby Canberra Region wineries' - not the case ladies and gentleman - the cellar door is beatifully presented and very boutique and the service was knowledgeable, friendly for the kids and proportionate based on our very limited experience - hats off! The chardonnay was a standout for us - beautiful.
