I used this salon to get my toddler's haircut. My toddler is not normally too keen on going to the hairdresser, but the hairdresser manage to make it pleasant for all.
The salon does get fairly busy so I would say bookings are essential. Prices are reasonable, particularly for a toddler's haircut.
Friendly practice and plenty of free parking nearby (park behind Banjos in the public car park for 3 hrs).
Treatment is always helpful and it's not too difficult to get an appointment.
The only thing I don't love about this practice is that the treatment bays are a bit like a public hospital, ie instead of 4 walls it's 3 walls + a curtain. I prefer the privacy offered by other physiotherapist practices where you have your own private room. However, that wouldn't stop me from using this practice again.
Approximate cost: $80
Amera's offer belly dancing lessons for a range of levels. I had so much fun with the beginner's belly dancing classes. The instructor was fantastic and took the time to explain everything well.
Classes are available during the day as well as in the evening, so it's easy to do a class after work.
The studio is about a 5-10 minute walk from Newtown train station.
There is also a shop at the 'palace' which sells everything you need to belly dance!
The Shamrock is a popular choice as a lunchtime watering hole and restaurant. It's decor is a bit dated, but it's got a cute cosy bar at the front.
The bistro is well priced and meals are good.
The décor at The Quarry is beautiful both inside and in the area outside. There's lots of seating inside, with a few comfy couches where you can relax with a drink. The restaurant offers modern Australian cuisine which is perfectly cooked and presented.
The outdoor area has a lovely stone backdrop, which I believe use to be an old quarry in Salamanca.
If you're a guy - make sure you visit the men's toilets for a unique view.
Zest café is located off the foyer inside the State Library, in Murray St.
They serve great hot drinks and have a good selection of food, whether it's for a snack, a light meal etc.
It's a great place to meet for lunch as they have an indoor area and an outdoor area.
This is a small pharmacy but it is conveniently located near the centre of Hobart, about one block down from St Helens hospital.
In addition to getting your scripts filled and helpful advice from the pharmacist, they have a good range of gifts available in store.
They also have crutcher hire available at a reasonable cost.
Soup n Juice was one of the first cafes in Hobart to offer freshly made juice (fruit, vegetable etc). It's so fresh and healthy, and is well priced compared to a lot of juice bars.
They also have a great range of delicious and healthy soups available, which is great for a cold winter Hobart day.
Sticky Fingers offers a fantastic selection of delicious icecream and frozen yoghurt, as well as dairy free fruit sorbets.
You can ask for a sample before you decide on your selection, and there's plenty of yummy icecreams to choose from.
They also have drinks and food items at this cafe, so you can save the icecream for dessert or just skip the main meal and go straight for the frozen treats!
This motel is conveniently located near the centre of Kiama with a lovely ocean view. The room I stayed in was well equiped and had a nice balcony. There was plenty of space in the room and plenty of parking at the motel.
I would definately stay there again.
I no longer use this hairdresser as last time I went they used a comb that was absolutely covered in someone else's hair.
When I asked the hairdresser whether that was OK to use, she brushed off most of the hair. I said 'is that hygienic' and she said 'that's just the way it is'. No joke. Exact words.
I have since found out that hairdressers are definitely not allowed to do this and it is a breach of health regulations.
I certainly would not recommend them after that experience.
