My sister read these reviews and decided to employ this firm to move her house. I was there to assist her. They charge by the hour. They arrived at 10 am and all they did was stand around and waste time. She was told it would take 2 hours to load up the truck, well it took them 4 hours. They deliberately wasted time and I went out a number of time to find out what was holding them up and I found the movers just standing in the truck or around the truck constantly on the mobile phone. When they finally filled the truck and got to the other side, again they deliberately wasted time. It took more than 8 hours for them to move one load to a property which was 3 kms away. In addition, they refused to release two items of my sisters furniture until she paid there and then. They are shoddy, unprofessional and I would run a hundred miles rather than use this firm. When we now look at the reviews and reviewers we note that most have only given one review and their user name is based on first name, surname initial and a number. There is clearly something not right and womo should investigate. Do not use these movers they are truly appalling.
Approximate cost: $1600
They restumped our home in Kew East. They provided an honest assessment of what was required and provided a fair quote. They worked very hard and did an excellent job and we are very happy with the work they did.
Hi Joanna,
Thank you for your review on behalf of your sister Michelle. Our team carried out your sisters move from a 3 bedroom home from Hawthorn to Kew. The move was discussed prior with our consultants and all information and procedures were emailed prior for full transparency. The move had been booked for an arrival time of between 9.30am and 10am.
After arriving at 10am, our two-man team of experienced removalists fully loaded a 10 tonne truck with 50m3 of furniture and boxes. This was carried out in 4 hours which is a very efficient loading time for this amount of goods. I would recommend that your sister contacts AFRA The Australian Furniture Removers Association to verify this.
The distance between homes only makes the move duration shorter by the time it takes to drive from the current home to the new home. The furniture still needs to be prepared and wrapped and stacked in the truck with the same safety and care for homes that are 3km or 20km apart. The wrapping and stacking in the truck is an extremely important stage of the move in preparation for when the truck is in motion with all your precious possessions inside. When fully loading a truck, it is vital that the team plans the best fit for these items to ensure nothing is damaged.
I am not sure where your sister received information that the loading time would take 2 hours as we do not provide this information. We did speak with your sister during the course of her move and assured her that the move was progressing at a good rate. She appeared to be happy with this, therefor this review has come at somewhat of a surprise. I would suggest that the most prudent approach here is for your sister to contact our office directly and discuss her concerns.
Regarding the hundreds of reviews that MetroMovers has on WOMO, these have all been fully verified by WOMO and are as a result of our many happy and appreciative customers that we have moved over the years, and continue to provide services to many of the same customers again and again as well as their friends and family.
You are welcome to call/email WOMO directly or conduct a full investigation into these very serious allegations.
MetroMovers is a company that strives to make every move a great one.
We are not perfect, but our entire team works very hard to make sure we all give our best and to make our customers happy.
However, we dont do magic tricks and we dont promise to fully load 10 tonne trucks in 2 hours.
Yours sincerely,
MetroMovers Management
I was present throughout the move as was my brother. Your movers were slow, clearly inexperienced and spent much of their time either on the mobile phone or hiding in or on the other side of the truck. It was my brother who disassembled the furniture, not your staff who looking on blankly. I agree, wrapping and stacking is extremely important and given the time they took my sister's contents should have arrived unscathed, but they did not. As she discovered directly after and subsequent too the move, she had several pieces of furniture damaged and your staff were made aware of at least one being the breakage of a glass top. As for my sister contacting your office, she did so on the day in front of me and all she received was an accusatory and defensive response where by your firm sought to deliberately change the focus from your firm's incompetence to make this about the payment of your fee. We did not expect your staff to perform 'magic tricks' but did expect you to provide your services in a competent and professional manner. If your goal is to strive to make every move a great one, you failed abysmally here and I will ensure that everyone I know is aware of the risks associated with using your "service".
