Agree with earlier review that Smolt was the best dining experience during my visit to Hobart. Tasting platter with pork cheek croquette, beetroot carpaccio, salami and parmesan and pork rilletes was fantastic and full of flavour. Great way to start the meal! The lamb leg was beautifully cooked and makes me hungry just thinking about it!

If you visit Bruny Island you must try the best oysters that I have ever tasted. Fresh, plump and sweet! And when you realise that they are only $12 a dozen, grab another 12! (bring your own lemon or pay 80c for one)

cafe set in beautiful surroundings. Check out the cows being milked before you head into the cafe to grab a bite to eat. Sample their cheddar cheeses before deciding which one to buy. Also, make sure you try their award winning ice cream!

great place for a quick, cheap and tasty meal. Specialties are the udon and soba. My favourite is the cold udon with a runny egg and lemon (ontama bukake udon). Don't go overboard with the tempura as it can get too heavy!

Great value and tasty dishes from the ramen shop in this food court. The soup is made from chicken and pork bones which provide a rich consistency and robust flavour. The care and attention in putting the dish together can be seen in the toppings which come with the ramen. The shio ramen ordered comes with pork, bamboo shoots, egg, shallots, bean sprouts, seaweed and black fungus and it is particularly the bamboo shoots and black fungus which stand out. Crunchy bamboo shoots and the slightly spicy and slippery black fungus provide additional texture and adventure to the noodles. The fatty pork has a slight sweetness to its flavour and the noodles are of a slightly stickier consistency which complements well the with soup.

The option of an free extra serve of noodles adds even more value to this dish which can be redeemed by showing the receipt to the lady at the counter.

With a diverse menu and different ramen combinations, there will be plenty of returns to this food court restaurant/

Great site with great rewards potential. Only thing is sometimes it seems people are a bit too generous with the 5 stars given out which detracts from the worth of the 5 stars. User base for the site is also a bit low.

An increasingly popular cafe with the kind of breakfast menu where you want to try every single item. Pancakes, potato bacon hash, corn and haloumi fritters are favourites! Great coffee and other drink options as well - smoothies, fresh juices etc.

I went there for lunch for the first time today. The menu options did not have the same appeal factor but the food was still fantastic. I had the bacon and beef burger which was very delicious and hearty (not so much a burger as the items were placed on a piece of grilled bread) - top tip: add the spiced salt provided on the table to your chips!

For something light, the salt and pepper squid salad is also recommended.

Also, try the Harcourt Perry (pear cider) it is amazing!

Not the cheapest, but I went with an entertainment book voucher which came down to 20 per head - not bad at all =)

Delicious and reliable ramen! Keep it nice and light with the chicken based broths or go meaner with the tonkotsu (pork base). If you feel like a flavour punch, ask for the one I get most often, the "special", which is a mixture of the pork and chicken broth with a load of garlic flavour and a hint of spiciness. Note, this is different to the other special which seems to have settle on as the fish and pork soup (you will find this on one of the pin up signs on the walls of the restaurant - close to the tv). Do also try the karage or soft shell crab (to share with your ramen), the crab is excellent value. If ramen isn't your thing they also offer Japanese curries, but hey its a ramen house. Since it is winter I also recommend the miso bolognaise ramen, sounds a bit strange but go for it - it is delicious! oh, make sure you go early so you won't be disappointed, on busy (usually) days they will have a cut off point where you will be advised that you will not be able to line up (the earliest I've experienced this was at 745). If you get rejected, try the thai place next door, that place is great too! =)

Cold winter times calls for warming soups and if you are in the Epping area, please give this place a try. You can park at Coles across the road and go down a short flight of stairs to find yourself at this restaurant. Specialising in spicy tofu soups, this restaurant also provides the complimentary tasty Korean side dishes which go down well by themselves or with the rice that comes with the tofu soups. If you want, you can also upgrade to the "special rice" cooked with red dates, ginkgo nuts and black glutinous rice. Keep it light with just the soup and rice or you can also mix things up by getting one of the sets on the menu where you can pair a soup with a bbq meat dish to create a more wholesome meal. Either way, yum yum yum!

Approximate cost: $15-20

Best ramen in Australia? Maybe its just because we can't get it here that I rate it over the Sydney ramen joints but it is certainly up there! Visited this place 3 times(lunch, dinner, lunch) while visiting Brisbane from Sydney for a few days. Great balance of flavours with the red ramen being a favourite. If you are having dinner there, call ahead and order the Banglow Pork Shabu-Shabu. Try the sweet tender pork in its natural glory by eating it straight after cooking it in the broth before you try it with the dipping sauces. A tip is to also a bit of the broth first to taste the transformation as it develops with each ingredient you put in to cook (pork, veges). Noodles will be served after for you to cook in the now fully developed soup! Only wish he would open a shop in Sydney!
