Finally made it to The Flower Drum to experience what all the hype is about. We had an excellent experience - and yes, though it was pricey, it was worth it (even if just once!). I found the menu hard to navigate so we went for the banquet, the small 4 course one. PLENTY of food, wowza. So in that sense it was good money for value, in terms of pricey fancy dining.
Drinks were waaaaay pricey though - a glass of wine costing as much as a cocktail.
Service was impeccable. Very well taken care of. Ambience was nice, if not a little bit stuck in the 1980's.

GREAT experience here last week. I haven't had a haircut this nice in ages. Really glad I'd gotten a voucher for them. Fiona cut my hair and was pleasant and professional (and also quick! nice to have an experienced hairdresser who knows what they're doing and doesn't take all day!). She cut it exactly as I asked, and also made sure, many time as she cut, that I wanted it *like so*, which I appreciate. The place had a chill vibe and was good value.

Very very pleased with my visit here! Getting spa treatments is my favourite luxury and I admit I am a bit picky. I wanted to have a spa day while in Perth and chose this one based on their website.
Turns out it was a fabulous choice (worth the taxi ride up to Wembley). The Kodo massage was very unique and relaxing. I also had the scalp treatment and a Geisha Spa bath. Everything was delightful and very decadent, right down to the flower laid upon my chest at the end of the treatment.
Truly luxurious! Treat yourself

We had a mini-holiday in Perth last week and stumbled across this place near our hotel. WOW! It is, quite simply, some of the best Italian food I've eaten in my life. I love the vibe of this place - always busy, but the table turnover is very quick and the staff are enthusiastic, fun and fast. Everything was scrumptious, huge servings and decently priced (for Perth, which we found to be very pricey for food in general). We loved it so much that we even ordered delivery pizza from them a couple nights later on our last night in town.

Love this cafe! Always good coffee and food and service. The rustic decor attracts hipsters but this cafe is also very spacious and family-friendly.
There's a little kids table with toys and crayons in the corners as well, always a plus for those of us with little ones.
Highly recommend. Busy though - esp weekend brunch

After a couple short stints at inferior childcare centres, I was able to put my son in the then newly-opened Thinking Kids. This place is amazing. Everything you want out of a childcare centre (well, except perhaps the hefty price tag)!
The staff are extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. They really work with you on ensuring that your child is cared for in the unique way each child deserves.
The room carers are so excellent - they really engage the kids and play with them in meaningful learning/play activities. My child has truly bonded with the workers, and REALLY enjoys going to this centre.
He is always well looked-after, well fed and happy. That is not something I can say for other centres - as we parents know, it's hard to find a great childcare centre (with open places!) and I'm so lucky we did.
While the per diem fee is a bit more than other centres, it is worth it. It's definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. And in terms of cost, I would definitely rather pay more for far better care for my child.
Thinking Kids is also shiny, bright and clean, with beautiful wooden furniture and toys, and a brilliant outside area that stretches around the entire building. They also offer music and sports programs as weekly incursions.
John Gorilla recently opened up in our lovely 'hood, and what a nice addition to the local cafe scene. Already packed nearly every time I drive or walk by, this cafe is already a trendy hit amongst the locals. As for my experience, the coffee is hit or miss. At $4 for a small, or $5 for a large, they really need to ensure quality. However, I think because it's still a new business they're just working out the kinks.
I imagine once things settle all will run more smoothly (we waited a long time for take-away coffees the other day). They have one of those lovely windows attached to the barista area so you can grab your cuppa on the quick - love it!
The place is small but we managed to bring in a pram, and they've outdoor seating as well.
Haven't tried any of the bigger dishes, just the sweets which were lovely. And the chai tea - wowza! they make a mean chai, yum
Choosing Midwives Naturally for the homebirth of our first bub was one of THE best choices my partner and I have ever made. The quality and continuity of care that is provided by these brilliant private midwives is beyond compare. I loved getting to know our 2 midwives throughout my pregnancy (Nicola & Simone) - and you can't beat pre-natal home visits! awesome. It was amazing having these trusted, highly-experienced women attending the beautiful birth of our boy.
Midwives Naturally are a great bunch.

Yum yum yum, many times over! This place is delish - and has gotten even better and better since it first opened. The croque monsieur is a MUST try -but you won't be disappointed with anything on their unique, French-driven menu. Since it IS a chocolate cafe, it'd be a crime to skip ordering something of the chocolate variety - I recommend a mocha (liquid heaven!). They have THE best pain au chocolaut I've ever had.
Good service. Funky, but not pretentious, open warehouse-ish space with lots of room. Pretty kid-friendly, too! I come here when I want to treat myself to a wonderful lunch or indulgent afternoon tea.
Look for the big red door :)

Great place for some great remedial massage! I recommend Massage Works for pregnancy massage, as they have one of those "cut-out" preggie belly tables that a lot of places don't offer. Soooo very nice to be able to lie on your stomach when pregnant and have your aches and pains relieved by the expert hands of Hans or Cath. They know their stuff!
