Very good menu, excellent food at a reasonable price and good sized serving portions, excellent coffee. I find that ordering a short macchiato is a much better test of the establishment's coffee than a latte - which hides many sins. The short macchiato at Cafe Panette was excellent - the classic 3 layers. Overall, a really good experience. We will be back!

Ordinary coffee, very small serving sizes and they forget they are in the service business. The serving sizes are ridiculously small for a guy. Our son ordered pancakes and received 3 of them, each seemed to be marginally bigger than a 50c coin. It was a cold Melbourne morning and the restaurant was full but the outside tables were virtually empty. We asked for a round of coffees while we waited but we were told they would have to take us off the waiting list if we had coffee at the empty outside tables. People in the service business who forget they are in the service business really tick me off. We won't return.

Cute place with nice, brunch-type ambience. Good food, decent portions, good coffee and interesting menu. We waited about 25 minutes for a table which was a pain. It's only a small place but worth the wait. It is also a bakery so you can buy some quality pastries and breads on your way out. Worth the experience

Lovely ambience, very nice presentation, outstanding French toast, very thoughtful food and beverage menu and good sized meals. It was a very pleasant experience in a quiet Fitzroy side street and we will be back.

A quality restaurant should not make customers order and pay at a counter. That's low class. We waited in a queue 15 minutes to pay a bill. It spoiled the meal. Coffee, muesli and eggs were ordinary. The bread overwhelmed the taste of the poached eggs. The hot chocolate was just warm. Zucchini omelette was very good. Over priced for service and quality.

Best hot chocolate in Melbourne - and so many varieties of hot chocolate from which to choose! Great crepes, good egg breakfasts, good portions, nice ambiance. Highly recommended

We did Sunday brunch. It was only half full at the time but we waited a very long time for any service. They don't assign a person to a table so you can be forgotten. The food was very good but the serving sizes were designed by a woman. The salmon eggs was very good but it was a tiny portion. Similarly, my son ordered pancakes - delicious but small. Cafe latte was good but the short macchiato was quite average and didn't have the classic 3 layers. It seems to be a place where people go to be seen - it had a "nouveau riche" feel to it. When full it is VERY noisy. We had to raise our voice just to be heard on a table for four. We will not be returning.

What a wonderful experience. Fabulous, diverse menu, terrific quality breakfast, great coffee and attentive staff - very busy and they don't give you heaps of time, but the service is descent. The salmon eggs were the best I have ever had. What a nice change to get a very good helping of salmon! The balance of tastes in the mouth still lingers in my mind. So many places overdo the sauce or the bread overwhelms the food texture. We also had pancakes and they made the eaters eyes widen - excellent. The muesli is well presented and yummy. The omelette was excellent. The tables are pretty close together but I can put up with that given the wonderful experience.

This Brunetti's is very disappointing. I've been to the one in Carlton a number of times and this does not compare. The store manager has not a clue about customer service - we are a nuisance disturbing her from doing her real work. Coffee is very ordinary versus Carlton, where they have a real barrista. It seems anyone can jump on the machine at this store just like the ordinary cafes. The short macchiato is very ordinary. Pastries are excellent but when we asked about gluten free pastries we received a real smarty pants response. The numbering system is a pain and if you don't hear them call out your number your coffee will just get cold.

Really good quality food and they obviously care about their food. Coffees are pretty good although the macchiato is average. Tables are close and it can get very noisy. Waiters are not very attententive and I'm sure they lose business from this. Meals are a good size.
