Move It Mate

I recently had a big move from the city to regional Victoria. It was a stressful one due to the circumstances, but also it's just a big move.
MOVE IT MATE responded to my quote request quickly and booked it in. I approached another mover and they never got back to me.
While MIM were more expensive than other movers, they provided the most professional people. These guys really love their work and did a lot of troubleshooting when needed. Nothing was too hard and that made me feel a lot less anxious about everything.
They came prepared and were so accommodating whenever I needed anything. Thanks to Alex and Shaun, they did such a great job and I'm so glad I went with MOVE IT MATE.

Moved from Lakes Entrance to Melbourne. The 2 guys from Move It Mate loaded themselves and sent me photos when done.

Got to Melbourne in a reasonable time given how many road speed restrictions are currently in place.

Their pricing was easily the best and the service was excellent. Very friendly and professional guys who took good care of our stuff.

We have moved from a farm after 48 years in southern NSW to Queensland. We had a whole house and shed to be removed
We called companies for quotes and our daughter who was helping us chose to go with Kent. From that point we received great help in organising a “walk through”face time.The date for removal was booked and we were in constant contact with out removal organiser who checked that all was proceeding on time. The day arrived and the Kent team “the boys” were brilliant and went above and beyond to help us. At all times they were polite, caring and moved our furniture with care and wrapped and strapped it all up into the containers as it had to travel over a rain affected dirt road. A week later it all arrived in Queensland for delivery and once again we were notified on a regular basis as to what would happen and where we would meet as we had two delivery sites to cope with. The Kent team of two were so good to us by helping to seperate item that had to be sent down to another storage site and did all that was asked without effort, smiles and truly were great examples of a team employed by a very organised and timely company. Very happy with this service, everything ran as per the schedule and without stress.
Uplift was quicker than expected (we had horrible access to the property - kudos to the guys who worked quickly and carefully under the rain!)
Unloading of the container in Melbourne was easy peasy with two amazing guys who were just great!
Nothing damaged, a few scratches here and there as expected when moving things!
KEY MESSAGE: if you’re looking at relocating, make sure to pack your stuff properly!
That’s what saves your belongings!
Make sure you use butcher paper to fill out your boxes so they don’t get squeezed and that you use proper boxes too!
These guys really do the best they can to look after your stuff!
Competitive fees too which is a bonus!

This was a big move over three days. The team was very quick - sometimes a bit too quick and labelling the boxes went a bit awry. But everything arrived safely with minimal issues. I have now moved with Move It Mate 2 times including to Sydney and back and wouldn't use anyone else. They are always polite and methodical.

Thank you for making our interstate move bearable. I would not hesitate to recommend MOVE IT MATE in the future. The boys were lovely and the service was excellent. Thank you once again.

Advised the company during the quote how big our house was but they only sent 1 truck and of course did not fit in 1 trip. Due to this we were outside our settlement time of 3pm and didn't leave until 8pm which is unacceptable! The total move went from 7.30am to after midnight. Totally unprofessional at 8pm they started refusing to take items on the truck, my husband had to ask a neighbor to take left over items (and there was a lot). Received a call from the office at 12:30am and was blackmailed into paying the account on the spot or they would leave with our furniture still on the truck. Had to demand an invoice. The conduct by the office staff was unprofessional, at no time were we told payment was due on the day and to threaten use at 12.30am that they would take our furniture if we did not pay over the phone was very distressing!
As result of them being so late after settlement we may have to incur a fine from the new owners which if this happens will be seeking recovery from Move It Mate.
We were told on the Friday that someone from the complaints department would call us on the Monday. It has now been 4 days since our move and no one has contacted us!
AVOID THIS COMPANY!

WARNING – If you are considering using ‘Move it Mate’ please for your sake, find someone else!
What should have been a simple and painless move for my wife and I, resulted in an absolute nightmare, ended up requiring us to pay double, spend hours longer than needed and are a completely unresponsive company. See below for our issues.

NOTE: I raised a complaint with the representative over the phone at the end of the job who assured me that someone will be in contact. I heard nothing, so I sent an email to ([email protected]) which you will see them post in some of the reviews here. I’ve heard nothing for over a week, sent a follow-up email and have raised a ticket on their website. We have given them ample time to respond to the complaint, but it has been two weeks since the move and have not even had an acknowledgement of our complaint.

ISSUES:
1. Incorrect size of the truck – We had previously done a move with another company, so we knew what size truck was required. After requesting over the phone on two separate occasions to the sales team for an 8 Tonne truck and being assured that one would come, we only got a 3.5 Tonne truck. This resulted in two trips back and forth to the storage facility which should have been done in one with the correct size truck, and delaying the move by several hours.

2. Slow, Lazy & Unprofessional Movers - One of the movers sat in the truck for long periods of time for a 'smoke break' totalling well over an hour and a half (and that is being conservative) so not only did the move take longer than it needed to, I had to do a lot of the heavy lifting (which I suffer from a chronic hip injury) along with my brother-in-law, while the mover sat in the truck. At the start of the move, the same mover asked to use the bathroom, he re-emerged 15mins later and instead of helping his partner, he ignored all the boxes and mattress and proceeded to have a smoke break (all of which I was paying for). This same mover also made an unprofessional comment toward my pregnant wife which was extremely disrespectful. They were extremely slow at getting items on and off the truck in comparison to movers we have used before.

3. Poor and In-efficient Packing – Packing the truck was extremely inefficient. There was space on the truck for more items on the first trip, but the movers shut the truck and left. We completed two trips to the storage facility and there were still items left that I had to move on my own. There was plenty of space left on the truck to fit more items, the movers even had a disagreement when one tried to fit more items into the truck.

4. Slow Routes Between Destinations - There were long periods where the truck went 'missing'. Our car drove ahead of the truck from one destination to another, what was a 15 minute drive for us, would result in us waiting for the truck for an additional 30 mins after we arrived. This happened on almost all trips we completed.

The result of the above issues has cost me at least $400-500 with the additional trip the truck had to do, the additional trips I had to do, and the time lost with slow movers and being one mover short - sitting in the truck smoking.
This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are unresponsive and provide an extremely poor service, do yourself a favour and please seek alternative movers.

Nothing missing, nothing broken. Communication before uplift and delivery was super smooth. Everything happened on-time with plenty of help offered during the whole process. Matt even supplied TV boxes, packing tape & help with dismantling & packing bed frames, mattress protection, fragile pieces, TV/computers. I will recommend this team to all my mates.
