Manhattan Music was the beginning of the bigger picture for myself as an evolving and developing musician.
Manhattan Music presented me with a solution to the problem in seeking not only a more reliable, trust-worthy service for musical needs and requirements by means of a music retailer but most certainly in means of music education and tuition.
I have been a long standing member of the Manhattan Music School community, having begun lessons at Manhattan during my first year of high school back in 2006. I had reason to try Manhattan after my previous place of music tuition (Main Street Music - Now Billy Hyde's/Allan's Music Greensborough) did not meet my expectations for being educated in learning my instrument of choice. I felt the learning was slow, lacked the motivation of interest and the change of my teachers/instructors did not help my development (However, it should be noted I mean not to criticize and merely draw a comparison). At this point in time I lacked little motivation in my musical ambitions having only played or owned a guitar for a year or so.
Once I enrolled at Manhattan I was mentored by a man and guitarist who I can say with all certainty showed enthusiasm, knowledge of music theory and technique (as opposed to JUST basics) and varied ideals of methods in producing a keen and motivated student. This teacher having had hand in hand experience also presented much more knowledge and ideas of the music industry, as I became more intrigued in my later development. Without doubt my first and former mentor was the changing point in my music development and in hindsight, my life, music being my passion and ambition in life. Inspiring me to become a better musician and even take on motivated interest in other music related activities including the formation of bands, sound production and composing music. Unfortunately due to my own scheduling commitments I had to move on to another instructor at another time and date. I found however the professionalism of all of Manhattan's staff picking up where others left off and taking on the same qualities as stated before after time of getting to understand each others approach to music. My current teacher, who is closely associated with my former mentor has taken the necessary steps to not only keep me interested but also continues to keep me motivated while challenged in all that I have to learn, an approach that we both agreed was ideal for my development. The teachers, as you can see, have a real one on one relationship with their students for the good of their education and even in a sense to create a friendly relationship.
Manhattan also presents so many opportunities for young and developing newcomers with programs and events such as the Manhattan Band Night. These events involve students of the community to come together in a band situation by playing a selected set-list (usually of at least one song) to perform in front of a live audience down at Shopping Town Hotel. These programs were a unique stepping stone for my own live stage development and helped me ease into the process of taking on these tasks outside of a motivating and encouraging environment and into the real world.
With the ambition and ideas Manhattan also hopes to achieve within the next few years, I hold no doubt the business and school will blossom in something much bigger than it already is and will develop much potential in its students and business.
