My name is Leanne, and I manage an adult learning centre for a government department.

I came to Fiona’s coaching as someone who seized a management opportunity after a lifetime of support and/or solo roles. Particularly in the last 10 years, I found my self-confidence, trust in my processes, and working under the perceived gaze of others began to negatively impact my output, peace of mind, and my homelife.

My triggers at work were feelings of ‘not knowing anything’, not doing enough, pandering to my staff, and I could go on! Hence, seeking support – I’d had enough.

Fiona’s questioning and conversational approach was made it easy to get right into what I was most concerned with, however, targeted questions and the space to ponder what my answers really were, I felt I was able to be honest with myself and tease out how this played out in my workplace.

After the first session I felt I was able to counter situations at work differently to what had become my norm – the cycle that would inevitably leave me with feelings of lack. I had some tools to use instead of floundering around and berating myself for how I thought I fell short. The tools came from pin point questions in my session, and the solutions were ones that came from me, not suggestions from Fiona (or some other source). It was powerful to know that I was using my own resources to work in a more functional, calm, resolute, and authentic (!) manner.

Financially investing in myself to access my coaching has not felt selfish. Quite the opposite. It felt like I was finally using my money to grow myself and find peace - to change my situation, to actively manage a situation rather than relying on ‘hope’. No number of inspirational quotes pinned around my computer screen were making any difference – I had to act!

If someone was considering committing to coaching with Fiona I would say ‘of course’, but be prepared to be honest with yourself, to be a bit surprised, and to just go with it.

As I write this in early January – I am looking forward to building on the understandings gained from my sessions thus far, to make them part of my conscious approach to my role and applying them into new situations that arise. And with mental space freed up from not having to worry – I am looking forward to enrolling in further personal study, and to concentrate on the direction of my Campus.

When I first came to Fiona, I felt like something was still holding me back. I’d overcome depression, I’d found a purpose in life, but there was always this persistent negative voice in my head. It criticised everything I did, made me doubt myself, and constantly question my motives.

I had been going in circles for years, feeling so out of alignment in my career, never seeming to gain clarity around what I should do, I felt I didn't have the privilege of time or money to be able to stop and reassess - I thought that was what I needed, time to think - but I had been thinking and thinking until I was blue in the face and not getting anywhere! I was also consumed by self-doubt, and had for many years felt over worked and undervalued. I was beginning to feel physically sick with the stress it had been causing me.

During the coaching program I was able to become unstuck and take action. The idea of how to pivot to be in a better position, without taking any time off, came to me very suddenly and I didn't hesitate to take action immediately. It was imperfect action, but it was action! Something I had not been able to do on my own, it was liberating.

After the initial action steps all the emotions came up as I stretched beyond my comfort zone. I felt angry, I felt a lot of resistance, I felt overwhelmed, but the momentum I had built propelled me forward and there was no going back. That momentum took me beyond my initial plan, and now I have founded my own design practice. Serving clients in a way that feels aligned with my values.

Being self-employed has been a huge milestone, and really, one of my dreams come true. I’m truly proud of myself and loving the sense of freedom and optimism I now enjoy.

I’m in an upper senior role at a medium sized commercial architecture firm and have been in my current position for a little over 3 years. I found myself both suddenly and progressively taking on more and more new responsibilities without really reducing my existing workload. Hi my name is Caitlyn, 29 and I'm a delivery driver for TGE.

Back in February of 2024 I was hit with the unfortunate news, ''You've got Leukaemia''. While the diagnosis was a shock (and still is 7months on) I handled it surprisingly well. It wasn't until I was told of all the tablets/capsules I would have to swallow whole (not crushed or syrup version, which is my usual go to) that my mind spiralled down. This is because I have/had a phobia of swalling tablets. My whole life I'd never really been successful in doing so. Tried every trick in the book but I would choke or throw up, just an automatic reflex.

What made my situation worse was that the doctors had said if I couldn't swallow these specific tablets I would die a slow and painful death. It must be said that this is if I chose to have a Bone Marrow Transplant and not just having the chemo on its own. The transplant gives me the best chance at a cure, but not if I can't swallow tablets. So I would only be able to have chemo and it's a 50/50 chance it'll come back with just that and harder to treat if it does.

After this news I decided to get to work on my tablet phobia, but while in hospital there was no progress at all despite having the help of the hospitals therapists and specialists.

Once I was out of hospital it was my Dad who had thought of hypnotherapy to see if it could help me as it helped him. This is when I was introduced to Fiona Spence.

From my very first session with her I started to see progress, small steps but it was something at last. She was very easy to open up and talk to. Be it a simple chat, a cry or a laugh, Fiona created an easy going safe space and allowed your mind to knock down the barriers and unravel the knots it had created over the years.

Each session there was more and more progress and it wasn't until my 4th talk with her that I was able to excitedly tell her I had finally accomplished my goal and overcome my phobia. She had helped me crush the mental block that was preventing me from swallowing tablets. I would highly recommend Fiona I came to her with a fear of mice and through hypnosis I had my first break through of being able to watch videos on mice which wasn't possible.
