After waiting for over a month for my laptop to be repaired, I tried again to get an update on the phone, as they "are too busy to (bother) updating the ticket tracking system", and as they don't reply to emails.

I was told that their parts supplier has sent the wrong replacement part 3 times and was now claiming that the part would now have to be sourced from overseas (which is were most parts laptop parts come from) which would "take a couple of days" (laptop was dropped in on the 23rd of May) and the supplier was waiting on instructions from Fixspot on how to proceed......

I asked Fixspot why I wasn't informed of this and I was told that Fixspot don't call the customer "just" to give updates on the "lack" of progress of the repairs. (Might be a cultural thing about "loosing face" and appearing to have failed, but even bad news is better than no news.)

I have found out that the people who answer the phone can't answer any questions (apart from telling you if your repairs have been done), only the technician can talk about any problems/issues BUT the technician are not ALLOWED to talk to the customers. This was after I was told that the technician would call me between 4:30 to 5pm, or is only in after midday, or is not currently in the Swanston street office and he can't call me directly from the other site. And never be tricked by the promise of the technician sending you an email to answer your questions. (Due to the fact that the wrong part was being sent to Fixspot, I asked for the part number for the replacement fan, to double check that due to a typo, the wrong part wasn't being ordered. I was promised that the technician would send the details plus an idea how long it would take for their suppler to have the fan sent from overseas. - and I'm still waiting for the details.)

I asked why they couldn't source the replacement part from another supplier and was told that they only had the one supplier and can't go anywhere else for the part. So, that's why it's not Fixspot's fault. They choose to continue to use a supplier that sends the wrong part and is now "forced" to get the part from overseas.

If this looks like a bad review, it's just a reflection of what's happened to me. I hope this is of some help to others in picking a repair service.

I'm so glad that I found this place! They were very helpful and provided a great and efficient service.
I had dropped and broke my OnePlus5. It was hard to find a place that fixes this Android phone at a good price.
The price for screen replacements are affordable and better than other places. Now my phone is pretty much brand new.
Would highly recommend Fixspot to everyone.

After my first experience with Fixspot I can see why it achieves great reviews.Replaced my S7 rear camera lens today.
Definitely the cheapest price.Recommended over other repair places I visited.
Quick turnaround times, fixed quotes and friendly knowledgeable service.
I have used another well known Repair centre in the CBD before and was disappointed. Fixspot will be the only company I use in the future. Great Service :)

No one could fix my sim reader.. I told him about my issue and he fixed it within 2 hours. I've been to so many places trying to fix this phone in so many places in the past year and he was the only one to fix it for way much cheaper than the others repair services offered.(even though they Said they couldn't really fix it)... I'm a student so this price was decent for me. Brilliant service. Quick, courteous, reasonable price. No hesitation in recommending Infinite Phone Repair.

DO NOT TRUST BAD REVIEWS :)
My iPhone 6Plus was totally dead ,I searched online to find a place to get my phone fixed .
I found Fixspot and I read some of negative reviews and I changed my mind. I brought my phone to several repair shops on Elizabeth St but , non of them could turn my phone on .
I was told that I should change the Main board and I'm not able to save my data .
After 2 weeks of wasting my time . I brought my phone to Fixspot and they told me they gonna update me in next 2 days .
I was really .hopeless but ,after 2 days I got my phone back and It was fixed without loosing any data . OMG I'm so excited and so happy .
Thank you guys what a great job xoxo

READ THIS REVIEW FIRST BEFORE GOING TO FIXSPOT!!

Take your phone elsewhere. Read on for a horror story. I wish I’d looked up reviews of this place first because the terrible quality of the repair and rude customer service were all predicted by other people’s reviews.

Dropped phone off on 5th October for a screen repair. Was told it should take 1.5 hours. Came back 8 hours later and they told me it wasn’t ready. Came back the next day and was told it wasn’t ready. They then offered to deliver it later that same day, but called to say delivery would be an hour later than they first told me, and I couldn’t wait for that. SO the weekend goes by, and I finally pick it up on Monday 9th October… I stupidly only checked the phone once I got home, and the vibrator motor hadn’t been secured properly, so the phone had a funny rattle to it.

I took it back to them the following day, and had to convince them that it was a simple fix and it was their fault (it helps to have seen a youtube video on how to fix your phone, so that you can assure them that certain bits MUST have been tampered with in order to get the screen off etc.). Again, I picked it up later that day and went home without testing the other components of the phone. When I got home and moved my sim card back to that phone, I realised that the side camera button was not working, and that the sim card tray had been forced into the SD card slot. I could not believe that a place whose sole business is to repair phones could be that incompetent.

I took it back the next day to get this button fixed, and while waiting for someone to serve me I checked the other components of the phone. The main camera has dirt on the lens. Three or so large smudges around the centre. I showed the woman who came to the counter, and she tried to argue it was not their fault as they don’t have to take the camera out to replace the screen. I told her I know for a fact that they do, because I’d seen it done in every single youtube repair video for this phone. She reluctantly said she’d see what she could do, but I really had to fight for it to even be considered.

Later that day I got a text telling me they fixed the camera button, but the CAMERA itself needs to be replaced and it would cost $79. Keep in mind this is a genuine Sony camera that is regarded as being one of the best in the smartphone market being replaced with an average third-party camera, at my expense, because of their fault. I called them straight away and demanded they replace it for free, and got past on to the ‘head technician’ who tried to tell me that because I was not a phone technician I didn’t know what I was talking about. I told him that I didn’t need to be a technician to know that if the camera worked fine before the repair and was damaged following the repair, then it’s clear when it happened and who did it. He countered by offering me the replacement half price and I told him ‘absolutely not’ and I that I wanted to leave good reviews for them, but under these circumstances I couldn’t. He then said he’d call the store owner and get back to me.

Two days go by and no call. I call them to check what’s going on, and the lady tells me they’re replacing the camera as we speak (although they didn’t call me to confirm this).

I went in to collect it on Friday 13th October, and as I’m waiting the guy in front of me gets handed his phone back and his actual words were “What, did you guys put it through a blender or something?” Poor guy had come for a simple screen replacement and they’d mangled his back cover - bent it and scratched it. The woman working there tried to tell him that this is how it was brought in to them, but I jumped in and told him not to believe them, that they’d screwed me over several times and that he should stick to his guns. Luckily, he had taken photos of his phone BEFORE he brought it in, and had this to back him up. Aside from me and him, there were 2 other customers in the store, and this sort of public airing of my grievances was what I had been needing during this ridiculous and drawn-out saga of bad phone repairs.

SO she comes back with my phone, I open the camera app and THERE ARE STILL SMUDGES ON THE LENS. I show her and she’s just like “oh well, it’s not the camera because we replaced it”, but the smudges are in different areas which indicates it is physical damage and not an issue with the motherboard etc.

I said to her loud enough for everyone to hear (it’s also a small place, so that wasn’t hard) that I was not going to leave my phone with them again because I felt very uncomfortable leaving it in their incapable hands.

Only when I got home and tried to play some music did I realise they’d somehow screwed up my headphone jack…… I am going to do this repair myself… oh and the screen they put on isn’t even stuck down properly; I can see light escaping from underneath it (goodbye water resistance).

DO NOT USE FIXPSOT. You’re better off buying a lotto ticket.

Approximate cost: $160

Dear customer,
Thanks for your feedback and it will really help us to improve, and you are very honest that you didn't introduce your self so i'm guessing who you could be base on your story.
After I read your long story to encourage other people not to use our business, I really want to mention something.
First of all thanks for your feedback, but to let others know ( I'm sure that you know), all places specially repair shops has their own policy which is under consumer low, and we mention to all our customers to read it before dropping any devices here for repair and after they read it they accept it and sign it then we start working on their devices and we always charge our customer after repairing the devices when they test the phone and make sure it is working as per their request.
We only and always fix the problem that customer mentioned and we gave the quote for that issue and Pre or post problems which is not related to our service as per our terms and conditions are not going to be fix for free or under warranty.
When at the first stage you brought your phone here , your screen was completely smashed due you dropped it and your touch was not working ,so not you nor us can test other functions on your phone before start fixing the screen.
when you back after 1.5 hours to collect your phone , we told you that unfortunately the screen that was left for your phone is faulty and we can not put it on your device, and that one was the last past that we have and we will receive it next day and yours will be ready a day after and you agreed with it (you didn't left any contact number so we were not able to update you before you came back for first time).
a day after we have fixed your phone and put a free screen protector on it to respect your patient and you came and tested your phone and when you made sure everything is OK you paid for it.(for screen replacement which was $160).
After two days you came back and told us that there is some black spot on your back camera,we have checked everything on your phone related to our service and make sure everything is OK then we told you that it is not related to our service and we didn't damaged your camera (there are strong evidence ),but only because you wait one day to fix the screen here, we are happy to change your camera for half price that you didn't accept it .
after you put negative review almost everywhere for us ( that is your absolute right) and you mention that you never want to come here and ask everybody to not come to FixSpot , you came back and ask about repairing Audio jack for free and because it was not related to our service that we have charged you for as per our terms and conditions and your signature we refuse to get it fixed for free.
We know that in customer point of view, if you face any problem after repairing your device, (related or not related to original issue) on your device, it means that we caused it, but by respect this opinion, there are many ways to proof that the other problems may not related to our services ,but if it is not only we have to fix it as warranty for free, but also we try our best to make you happy.
at the end, I want to mention that, most of us, if we are happy with any services anywhere, hardly put the positive review for that business , but very easily try to destroy the businesses that we don't like their policy by publishing true or false negative reviews.
just imagine , we have around 500 customer every week , and %99 are very happy with our services, if all or half of them put the positive review how our rate could be , but when our policy that it is same to everyone and all our customers are signed and agreed with doesn't make them happy, the easiest way is putting negative feedback to show our madness.
the Law is for protecting everybody , but some people doesn't like it.
Thanks

They "repaired" my slightly cracked screen by replacing it with inferior glass. Fraudulent advertising refusal to assist after now destroying the screen completely making it unusable within 2 days of their repair.

[redacted generalisation]
DO NOT USE if you value your technology AND money.

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. I tried replacing the battery myself, following a YouTube video. Gave up and went to Fixspot. Excellent service. Fixed in an hour on a Saturday, and showed me how I had been opening the wrong section and I could have totally stuffed my phone. Lucky I went there. Thanks!

DISGUSTING SERVICE, I HAD MY IPHONE 6 REPAIRED 3 WEEKS AGO, THEY REPAIRED IN FOR $155 AND THE LCD HAS GONE AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITHOUT TOUCHING IT.
THE SCREEN WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE PHONE DOWN ONE SIDE CORRECTLY, WHICH HE FAILED TO TELL ME WHEN HE GIVE ME IT BACK.
IVE BEEN BACK TO THE SHOP & HE REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY.
HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT USE. OTHER PLACES IN MELBOURNE OFFER A MUCH BETTER SERVICE.

Fix Spot(Melb) has done a fantastic job of fixing my water damaged IPhone 5 and due to the damage to the phone, it took them 2 days to restore my phone and what a relief it was for me!. I will definitely recommend their services and the charge of the service was under $100. Please note the location Melb Fix Spot is within the Century House on Swanston, which can be easily missed as not all numbers on offices /shops are visible on this strip.

DO NOT get a screen replacement with Fixspot! Within two days the glue became unstuck and the glass screen began to come away from the phone! On the same day I had an iPad battery changed and was told that the screen would need to come off in order to replace the battery. I am now experiencing the same problem with my iPad screen! I went with fixspot because they seemed to be one of the cheapest, but now it's going to cost me even more money to fix their poor workmanship!

Approximate cost: $145
