Brassy / copper roots
I recently had my hair done (my 3rd visit, after looking for a new hairdresser since my previous one moved interstate) at Brush and Co. ½ head of foil and a toner. I was bounced around to 3 different stylists throughout the appointment and when the 3rd stylist was drying my hair, I stated to the stylist that my hair looks very ashy and dark.
The stylish advised that it just need to be washed a few times, but if I wasn’t happy to come back and they’d tone it the colour that I wanted. I left the salon upset as this colour service had cost my $295. When I arrive home, I washed my hair 3 times and noted that the ash colour only lifted slightly. I rang the salon and asked whether they could remove the toner, they agreed and booked in me into an appointment to correct it.
I returned to the salon two day later to have the colour removed where I showed the stylist creamy, pearly, clean, natural tones of blonde that I was aiming for in the toner. The stylish took me to the basin and applied various shampoos and chemicals. These chemicals were uncomfortable on my skin. When we returned to the mirror, I could see that my hair now had a copper / ginger / brassy root and I had white flaky chemical burns on my forehead. I was in a state of shock and wanted to leave and just kept repeating thank you.
I have spent the Easter weekend with a sore, itchy scalp, copper roots and washing my hair with purple shampoo to attempt to remove the toner. It has now been 5 days since my appointment, and my scalp is still burning and itchy and my GP has advised that I come and get it checked. I will now have to make an appointment with a different salon after my scalp has recovered for colour correction. I’ve have had my hair foiled for 24 years and never had this experienced nor colouring error. This has been a disappointing and costly experience that has resulted in injury.

I love the service and the little extras the Yvonne and Jackie provide. Yvonne is fabulous with over 20 years experience at helping you decide what will work best for face shape, while taking in requirements of your lifestyle too. I’ve started taking my teenager there too. We both have curly hair and Yvonne is fabulous with it. The products they use and recommend are fabulous and they are environmentally conscious in their practices. She always has a little drink and snack for me too. Bonus.
Yvonne and Jackie are excellent hairdressers - they always do a great cut and colour and they’re so friendly. The salon is lovely too, the massage chairs at the basins are a bonus as is the prosecco!
A beautiful and bright space and a warm and welcoming environment, getting my hair cut at Brush and Co is always a highlight in my diary! Yvonne and the team are absolute professionals. I have complete trust in Yvonne to know what cut and colour I’m wanting, even when I don’t quite know myself! The team listens to how you wash and wear your hair and provide friendly advice and suggestions to ensure best results. I’ll often have compliments on my fresh hair weeks after an appointment - could not recommend more highly!
Yvonne is a curly cut genius!
I love how she's managed to shape my non-conformist curls into a good style, neatening them up and showing them to their best advantage, allowing them to be natural and mine still. I've even had a fringe cut, what I always thought was a no-no with curls, but turns out is a heck-yeah!
Color is also amazing, I'm a bright copper that almost shines metallic in the sun, and unlike most red toned colors I've had in the past, this one holds its vibrance longer, and fades beautifully.
I'd recommend you come see Yvonne for great service and results.
I have been going to Yvonne for close to a decade and not only is the service she provides exceptional but she and Jaquie always go above and beyond Happy to move appointments when possible (for busy ladies), great conversations had on current affairs (feel like I get a haircut and solve world problems) BUT most important they are great cutters, I have thin straight hair and have always had trouble finding a good hairdresser. Until now!!! Would highly recommend these beautiful ladies
Since moving to Melbourne i hadn't been a regular at a hairdresser. Because I'm so fussy i would just move from one to the next in hope i would find a salon that actually listened and didn't just give you what they think you should have. Ive been in Melbourne for 9 years and this year i can finally say I've found my salon, i can't imagine going anywhere else now!. They are hair gurus and they just get it.

I went to brush and co after looking up different hairdressers in my area and found that brush and co had such fun, bold hair transformations. I came in with very dark dark hair and wanted a big change. Jackie was my hairdresser and she was completely amazing! She listened and put her own ideas into the mix which i loved! The service from start to end felt like i had been going there for years. Welcoming, lovely and so thoughtful. The place itself is so beautiful and just makes you feel right at home. I left the salon with a massive smile on my face. From very Dark, dark hair to fun cropper, rose gold and light pink balayage with fun 70’s bangs. Highly recommend for not only if you want a change but want a lovely, welcoming salon.

I came to this place for the first time for a hair cut and received more than that. To begin with a friendly welcoming that made me feel familiar and at the right place, this followed by Jackie who was exceptional and very professional. Not only did she cut my hair but created a new look that I definitely love it.

This is honestly everything you would want in a salon. From the moment you walk in the door you feel more like a friend than a client. Jackie did a great job on my hair and is lovely to chat to. Did I mention the super comfy basins with massaging chairs? Or the glass of wine and endless number of magazines? See you next time!

Yvonne is a queen of her craft. Not only did she give me the most gorgeous blonde balayage, she made me feel so at home. She went above and beyond to ensure that I was completely taken care of and that I loved my hair. Brush and Co. is an absolute gem of a salon and I can't recommend it highly enough!

I had a fabulous overall experience with Jackie at Brush and Co. The salon has a really relaxed and friendly vibe yet Jackie was extremely professional and knowledgeable about modern techniques. She talked me through a style and color that ended up surpassing my expectations. I walked out feeling fabulous and relaxed. Definitely recommend highly.

Treatment Process: To shift your hair from an ash tone to the warmer, creamy blonde you requested, we performed a deep cleansing wash at the basin. We would like to reassure you that no harsh chemicals or lighteners were applied during this corrective session; we used professional-grade shampoos to gently lift the initial toner.
Scalp Sensitivity: We are very sorry to hear of your discomfort. It is worth noting that excessive washing (including the six times mentioned prior to and during the appointment) can strip the scalp of its natural protective oils, often leading to significant itching, dryness, and sensitivity that can mimic a chemical reaction.
Color Results: Because we moved toward a warmer palette as requested, the "copper" tones you noticed are often the transitional warmth required to achieve a natural, creamy blonde rather than a stark ash.
