Aussie Pet Doors

Almost 2 weeks ago I paid $3200 for an automatic dog door. They made me pay on the day and then tell me I cant use it for 24hrs. After 24hr door doesnt work. 2 technicians have come due to me forcing them to do something. They dont know what they are doing. The one today told me I needed a 'proper technician'. Its been almost 8 hrs since he left with no contact from aussie pet doors. I have called and sms'd asking to speak to high manager/owner - I am just being ignored. They got my money. They dont care that they didnt provide a working product. Appalling company.

Update 4/12/25: After having this review up for a while APD responded suggesting I get in touch with them to discuss a resolution. I emailed but didn't receive a response, so phoned and chatted to someone in sales and explained everything to them. They first suggested I get in touch with their warranty people (to which I protested, as they had already been ignoring me!), and then also offered to sell me replacement doors. They later got back to me and advised they would replace the doors free of charge once they were available, and I've now received them. A good result in the end, but it did take more time to get there than I believe it should have. I do wish they would just stock replacement hinges - there is a seller of what appears to be the exact same pet doors in the USA that does sell upgraded springs for these hinges (I bought some, and they fit perfectly - they're just a bit expensive due to shipping).

I bought the large aluminium frame swing door. Was fine initially, but two of the hinge springs broke after about two years (of relatively gentle use by an old, arthritic medium sized dog). This prevented one of the doors from closing on its own, allowing cold air to stream into my house in the middle of winter. I contacted APD to about replacement springs or hinges and was told my only option was to buy new doors (at a cost of about $90 - nearly half of the original purchase price of the whole unit!!!), but that they're not currently in stock.
It's extremely disappointing for a product marketed as premium and sustainable to fail so quickly, and to require expensive replacement of both doors rather than just replacing the small component that failed.
I won't buy from this company again.

The best customer service I have experienced in a really long time. They were very accommodating in respecting my choice of courier and I had the product within 4 business days which in the current circumstances is super quick. Excellent product as well. Thanks APD!

I wouldn’t, they took a deposit, glazier has not called and it’s over a week, they have not responded to the message I left on their phone yesterday, nor have they responded to the email I sent last evening. I wouldn’t go near them

Very fast and professional conduct from placing order to receiving products. I ordered the wrong cat door and rang about exchanging for the one I needed. Got a very friendly response and was made to feel that it would all be ok even though I stuffed up!!

The doors are excellent quality. They work well and the fact that we have eight energetic Jack Russells tearing in and out all day proves how sturdy the door is.

In every house i build and get people to rent out all over the state i always put a pey door in even if they dont have a dog it is so they dont ask me but for the renters to have a oppitunity to get one they put it in quick and easy they clean up easily and know what they are doing

I recently purchased the microchip cat door as I was feeding unwanted visiting cats and my cat was rapidly losing weight. I spoke to Sarah on Saturday morning and we discussed my options at length. I ordered the door and it arrived on Tuesday morning by delivery. I have installed the door which was fast and easy (with the right tools). My cat was used to a cat door previously which made it easier for her to use the new door. I must say it is a little harder to push open than our previous door but certainly works well because I don’t have strange cats entering and taking her food. She has now regained her weight so it’s a win win! The curfew mode on the door means I don’t have to worry about opening a door in the morning or locking at nighttime. Great extra. I can thoroughly recommend this product. Well worth the cost

On the day of my appointment, I left work early to make it home in time for the measure. My appointment time was 3pm-5pm, at four minutes to 3 I received a text message informing that my order was being cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. I text back to ask if I should reschedule or look elsewhere, I was told to look elsewhere.
I would not have minded the cancellation if they had informed me at an earlier time

Ordered a small pet door online and it arrived without the original packaging, plastic bags had been torn open and the installation template, referred to in the instructions, was missing because the original box was missing. One side of the plastic door was dirty and had to be washed. Looks like it had been returned by a previous customer without the original box and sent to us. Price was not the cheapest either. I saw the door elsewhere yesterday for $20 less. At least shipping was fast.
