We went here one night for dinner whilst in Gladstone for work. It is located right on the water where the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race finishes, so the view was nice. I ordered the chicken Parma and it was huge. Others with me ordered steaks and these were also a good size, so the meal sizes are great. It was reasonable as far as taste goes and average in pricing.

We were in Roma recently and found that there is a limited range of places to eat. We didn't want to get McDonalds every night so we decided to try the Irish McGann Hotel as they advertised that they offered wood fired pizzas. The building if fairly old and not very attractive inside so the dining mood isn't that appealing, but we did find the food reasonable and the prices were pretty reasonable for the area. The meal was quick to arrive once ordered. The person who served us was friendly and tried to offer good customer service but there was a little bit of a language barrier so it took a little bit to get on the same page about our order.

I had a pair of knee high boots I had ordered from overseas that were comfortable and fit me well everywhere expect in the calf. I had heard that some shoe repair people were able to reduce the calf size to fit. I inquired at lots of shoe repair stores, but most people said they wouldn't perform this service. In the end I finally found Footwear Fixers and one other place in the city that said they could do the job. Shane at Footwear Fixers seemed very knowledgeable about the service and he quoted a cheaper price than the city store. He had me in for fittings as he went and I ended up with boots that fit the calf perfectly! I went on to get him to reduce the height of a pair of heels and these worked out well to. I am really glad that I have found someone who can alter shoes well should the need arise again.
We had a Termi Mesh termite barrier installed as we built our new home. They coordinated well with our builder and we are happy that it looks inconspicuous, but will significantly reduce our risk of getting a termite infestation. They provided us with a great instructional DVD which shows clearly how we should check the barrier and for any termites climbing above it. It isn't a cheap product, but it will hopefully pay off in the long run. We recently came up for inspection and they sent out reminder letters which was good, but when we rang to enquire about the price of the inspection the receptionist didn't know and when we she finally got a figure of over $200 it was our understanding this was just to check the perimeter of the property which seems expensive.
We were looking for curtains for the doors of our new place and wandered into Curtain wonderland while we were in the Bunnings centre at Carseldine. We went from just having a browse to buying curtains for our bedroom, laundry and double stacker doors for the alfresco. We were lucky in that they had a great sale on and we found the prices of ready made curtains not much worse than affordable curtain suppliers like Ikea or discount department stores. The great news was that the quality was a lot better than what we had seen at other stores. The service was particularly good-we got lots of advice on hanging them and help choosing the best curtains and curtain accessories for our needs. They also went to an effort to track down stock of the specific curtains we were looking for. We have had the curtains up for a few months now and they look good and offer great functionality. I recommend their blockout backed curtains. They do a good job at keeping out light and have an insulating effect.
I used to go here regularly to get a gel overlay on my fingernails and toenails. I found the staff friendly and my nails lasted well. I used to go in at 2.5-3 weeks for infills and never had trouble with my nails in between. I don't live as close any more so I am now looking for a new nail place. Finding a good nail technician seems to be hard.
I used to go here regularly to use the solarium. I have stopped now due to health reasons, but I found this a great place to pop in and out of. I found it easy to get in and out of and the staff were friendly and helpful at recommending how I should use the solarium for my personal melanin level. I also liked that they did multi visit rates which were much more affordable than one off visits. I got a good tan quickly here In conjunction with the recommended tan accelerating products.
I booked in for a traditional gel overlay to carry me through a week of wedding celebrations I was attending, but they performed one of those new gel manicures on me and it turned out badly. My appointment was on Saturday and by Tuesday right before needing to leave for the bridal shower half of the thumb nail polish came off. Since you can't get gel off in a hurry I had to superglue the gel piece back on quickly before leaving. During the week another nail was in trouble. So by the time I went to the wedding 6 days after the gel manicure I had 2 nails gel held on by glue. Previously gel overlays have lasted 3 weeks and have only needed to come off due to the nail growing out. I was gentle on my nails that week, for example, no washing up and the likes, so it was a ridiculous waste of money as a basic manicure often lasts as long as 3-4 days. They were more expensive than many places as well. I should mention that the staff were friendly to be around, but unfortunately the quality of work was not acceptable. When I went to remove the remainder of the gel it wasn't even easy to get off.
Approximate cost: $70
We get fish and chips here often, if we are in Scarborough. The best thing about this place is the price, we have found it to be one of the cheapest places around. The food is reasonable and the service is reasonably quick, but not overly friendly. If you are after the basics at a good price it is a good pick in Scarborough, the place at the other end of the street is nicer to sit in, but much more expensive. We take our fish & chips from Fish Biz and go across the road to the picnic benches for a nice outlook over the water.
I have been to Poet's a few times and would consider dining there again, but there are a few drawbacks preventing me from giving them 5 stars. Firstly the good; reasonable service, a menu with good variety and a pretty setting. The drawbacks seem to be attributed to them being known as "the" place to eat in the main strip of Montville. The first is the price, the 2nd is how crowded it can get at times. They have opted for quite small tables to fit in as many people as possible and I find this can be frustrating when trying to fit everyone's meals and drinks on the table. However, if you go at a quite time, for example prior to 11:30am and there's just the two of you it can be quite pleasant.
