I like to spend the occasional afternoon with a friend wandering through the Mill Market. It's quite big so you need at least a couple of hours and in winter you definitely need a coat because it's a big shed/warehouse. There is a huge variety of antique furniture and old bits and pieces. Prices vary a lot because the stalls are owned by different people, but prices are generally reasonable. There is a little cafe there for the coffee and cake stop and they usually have heaters in that area, if you need to thaw out in winter. A great place to buy a bit of history and to spend a relaxing few hours.
Love browsing through this place and buying the occasional item. Has a huge collection of antique furniture and items from a by gone era. The place is pretty basic, warehouse like, but it's like a walk through history looking at all the stuff. Can be a bit cold in winter and some items are a bit pricey, but I've found some great items there over the years.
Love browsing the secondhand stalls on a Sunday morning. Have found some great bargains over the years. Lots of different people come here to sell their unwanted goods, so you never know what you might find. Prices vary a lot, as it depends on how badly people want to get rid of their stuff. There are also many regular stalls selling a variety of items. I find it's a good place to buy plants for the garden at reasonable prices.
Belmont Market is a great place to browse and shop on a Sunday morning. You never know what you'll find as each week there are many different stalls selling secondhand goods - people cleaning out their house or garage. Prices vary, but you can find some real bargains. There are some regular stall holders selling, fruit and veg, secondhand tools, secondhand books, bric a brac, plants, etc. Always worth a look!
Have visited this cafe twice so far. Once for coffee, which was reasonably priced and tasted fine. Also enjoyed a light lunch with friends. Enjoyed a thick bread toasted sandwich. Service was fast and friendly and a good menu for light lunches or coffee and cake.
Pennys is in a quiet location, so it's handy to pop into on the way home, so you don't have to battle through a supermarket just to get some meat. Parking is easy. A bit dearer than supermarkets, but quick, convenient and always excellent quality meat. They also have a good selection of marinated meats and a variety of different sausages to try.
Enjoyed a lovely meal recently at the Lara Hotel. Not only was the food good, but the serving size was excellent, with large meals for all appetites. The desserts were huge, as well as delicious! The staff was friendly and even offered to help us take a group photo without even being asked. They also have a play room for the children.
Approximate cost: $24
This is the best place in Geelong to buy cheap fruit and vegetables. The apples won't shine like the supermarkets, but the quality is great and you can afford to eat 3 or 4 times as many! Saves us a fortune, as we are huge fruit and vegie consumers.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Buses used are pretty basic, but it's a good way to get to the airport without the hassles of driving, parking or finding someone available to take you.
Great place to buy curtains, curtain tracks, towels and bedding at cheap prices. They often have 3 or 4 day sales which make it even cheaper. They also sell oddments or seconds. They shop is very basic and a bit out of the way, but great value and I've found the staff very helpful.
