This is a fantastic local small business that offers a wide variety of fire, rescue and general 'emergency' related equipment for both professionals and home-owners. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The service is high quality and professional. I was able to order and purchase items I needed quickly and smoothly. I was very happy with all aspects of the service provided by this local small business. I would highly recommend Fire and Rescue Australia at Blackwood.
Had my carpets cleaned a year ago with Electrodry. We got four rooms cleaned (3 rooms plus a 4th free) for $119 as part of a special deal that was available. Great customer service on the initial phonecall and I was able to be booked in within days. The man who came was friendly, efficient, on time and professional. The carpets came up well - certainly a vast improvement - and the carpets dried quickly. I completely understood that one of my rooms had to be counted as two rooms for the purposes of the deal because of its size.
However, after a few months the stains became visible again (have returned full-force). I was also a bit disappointed that one of the rooms I wanted to be cleaned could not be done because special equipment was needed (apparently because of the type of carpet) that was not included in the deal.
Overall, I would recommend Electrodry as a professional, quality service that offers good value for money.

I have been going to this salon for years. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The staff are friendly and professional.
However, the prices are quite expensive in my opinion. For me, the costs make it a 'special event only' option which is a shame. The products available for purchase are also pricey.
The parking is very limited and not well planned. The salon is not completely disability accessible as there is a sliding door frame to get over and some of the rooms are down very narrow steps. However, I believe the majority of basic treatments (e.g., eyebrow waxing, facials) can generally be done in the accessible rooms. Best to check on this first if it is an issue.
I have been here several times over the past decade. It has always been -and still is - a cosy little pub with a warm atmosphere. However, I feel like the quality of the service and particularly the value has deteriorated.
For example, the half price lunch special used to be great value and a big draw-card. Now, there are only 4 main courses that are included in the half price deal. It does not include any steaks or even schnitzels!
In addition, I find it odd that you have to pay $3-$6 dollars extra for sauces (e.g., pepper sauce, dianne, parmigiana) on top of the main 'food' cost.
Overall, an average but warm little pub that I hope will improve in the future.

I recently got a pie from here. It was just an average pie - nothing particularly great. However, it was not very warm which I wasn't very pleased about. The staff were friendly and service was quick.
Akkerman's is without a doubt my favourite bakery! The food here is freshly baked every day - if you arrive early enough you can see them making all the delicious foods. The food is amazingly good and incredibly tasty.
They have all the normal ranges of pies/pasties/sausage rolls as well as a few of their own special recipes such as a Ned Kelly pie, spaghetti pie and chilli pie (very spicy). My personal favourite is the potato pie - the best I've ever tasted by far.
There is also a wide range of fresh buns made daily - including Kitchener buns, eclairs, Berliners, vanilla slices, finger buns, doughnuts, and heaps more. There is also a wide range of bread, bread rolls, bread sticks and hot and cold beverages available. Plenty of seats inside and out.
The service is second to none. The staff here are so polite and friendly. I really love coming here each time. Be warned though: 1) they don't have eftpos facilities and 2) it is incredibly busy so the earlier you go, the better to avoid missing out!
I strongly recommend Akkerman's Bakery!

This little cafe offers a range of baked goods and hot beverages. I have had a few pies and two croissants for takeaway from here - all have been tasty and hot! The staff are polite and helpful, with fast and friendly service.
This is a great little cafe in Blackwood. Great for a coffee or a pie/pasty. They do some hot meals as well as sandwiches - very tasty. As the other reviewer said, it is a very busy place. But the service is always good and friendly. A good amount of seating (particularly given the size of the shop) is available inside and outside.
My family has been going here for decades. I have to say that I prefer the atmosphere and the food much better before the renovations. The atmosphere was so much better then, there was a lot more space and it was great for family groups.
Now, it is very cramped, with tables and chairs crammed in tightly together. This makes it very hard to move around, especially for disabled people. When we went with my mum for her birthday, we had to leave her mobility aid in a room behind the front bar while two male family members virtually carried her to a seat all the way past the other tables, shuffling sideways. There was absolutely no room between the tables to wheel her through and staff were unable to seat us somewhere accessible (since none seemed to exist). I found it quite embarrassing to be honest.
It is so loud that you cannot hear anyone talk - conversation without shouting is impossible. The food is alright but nothing special or particularly great value. I had a parmigiana which was pretty expensive for a basic pub meal. The service was reasonable and the staff were friendly and apologetic about the problems.
It does have disability permit parking and disability access to the building. However, it was not disability friendly in the dining area when we last dined here. While we would like to go back, the accessibility issue makes it difficult. It would be good if they increased the space between tables and offered takeaway for people who cant get in, in the interim!

This is probably the biggest petrol station in Blackwood. As well as the petrol pumps, it has a large store, a subway, a car wash, a dog wash, and a car vacuum. There is very limited parking - most people park in the carparks of the adjacent vet or surf shop. The store is good with a large range of food and drinks and supplies. However, the car wash is overpriced and doesn't work very well - gets rid of cobwebs but not bird droppings. The service is generally pretty good.
