This is a nice place, and one I often stop at for dessert or afternoon tea. Nothing super special, but friendly service and nice food. It's right underneath the cinema, so always a useful pit stop!
I feel bad dissenting from popular opinion, but I wasn't overly impressed with Zen Yai. I went with a group, which always complicates matters, but my meat wasn't well cooked, and one poor person on the table didn't get their meal until every one else had finished. They had forgotten in spite of asking for the meal on two different occasions. The service was pretty awful, but it really is a pleasant place to eat.

Tiger does what it advertises it will do. The cost of a cheap airfare is horrendous service and flight stuff-ups. The last time I flew with them, I received an email 3 hours before my flight to tell me it had been cancelled. There were no other flights to take with Tiger that night. While I received a refund on my cheap ticket, I had to pay several hundred dollars to fly from Canberra to Melbourne at short notice with another airline. Not worth it!

Qantas is always a great service, but it's no better than many others. For a domestic flight, you definitely see what you're paying for. For international flights, if you're lying economy, choose another airline for better value and service.
I really like Gus'. It's always a sure bet for decent food. The location really makes it - right in the heart of Canberra with ample dessert/bar options! Of course, you can never say no to an all-day breakfast menu either.

Standard cafe. I had a nice breakfast here, but nothing out of the ordinary, just a decent place to catch up for a decent meal. If you don't come expecting anything special, you'll find it quite pleasant.
This is a nice place tucked in next to Supabarn. Worth a look for niche products, but the produce is no different to what's available next door. Great salads and lunch options though.
It's a nice place, and very pleasant in the summer. Inside is quite crowded, and while the food is pretty good, the service is really hit and miss.

A quaint place for the perfect afternoon tea. Small, rural, and very sweet. The food is good, but the garden is gorgeous. Come here to escape the hustle and bustle for a little while.
This is the perfect place to hide away for a few hours. It is unfussy, there's plenty of space, the food is fantastic (love the buffet options) and I always associate it with a really pleasant time. I have a thing for the yogurt they use. If anyone knows the brand, let me know!
