I've tried a lot of Fish and Chip shops in Sunbury and each time found them deficient in some way... until now.
Thalassa cook great fish, great hamburgers and all the other little side dishes in between. The only gripe I might have is their chips can be a bit hit and miss; nice and crisp one day and gluggy the next... but I find that is the case with all fish & chip shops anyway which is why I no longer order chips with my meal :-)
Clean venue, pleasant enough staff, good prices and useful meal deals. Apart from maybe Melba Avenue Fish and Chips, Thalassa is the only Fish and Chipper worth seeing in Sunbury.
I've been a resident of Sunbury for some time now and, with my families Thursday night take-away tradition, have experienced many of the pizza providers in the region.
For consistent taste, quality product, good selection and service with a smile and a chat - you can't go past Chevy's. You might be able to find cheaper pizza but I'd prefer to buy something that tastes better than the cardboard box it comes in, which is why it is Chevy's for my family every time the pizza craving is upon us.
I have taken my old (1990) and my new (2008) car to CitySide and every time have had a wonderful experience. Just the one mechanic operating out of a spotless workshop where I have seen everything from a 1960's Dodge, to a dump truck to brand new luxury sedans.
This guy can work on anything and his honesty and attention to detail are second to none.
Each time I've come in to collect my car he has shown me the parts that have had to be replaced, talked me through the details and mentioned things to look out for in the future.
After getting our previous car butchered both times we chanced using Shepherds in Sunbury we found ourselves trekking into West Melbourne where I knew of an awesome mechanic. After my work moved and we had our first child we could no longer afford to take our new car such long distances to get serviced so we looked on WOMOW for advice. We noticed our bad review of Sheppherds had drawn a comment to go to Sunbury Automatics so, based on this recommendation, we gave it a shot.
What a wonderful experience! Friendly staff, cheap prices and nary an issue to be had with the service. They even blacked the tires for us at no extra charge!!
Finally, a local mechanic that can work on old to modern cars and not break them or charge the earth.
A nice relaxed venue without any pretense where delicious Thai food is served at great prices. Service can be a bit slow but it fits in with the down beat vibe and doesn't get in the way of a great night out.
I took my (future) wife here on the night I proposed as I know that you can rely on good food, time after time.
As a guy I find the usual range of clothes available quite boring and depressing... Luckily I stumbled across Vicious Venus and now have a favourite outlet to buy all my jackets, shirts, jeans and shoes. The staff are young and funky and give good advice on what goes with what (invaluable advice for us blokes!). Worth adding to your list of "must see" shops whenever you're looking to add/update your wardrobe.
Oh, and girls, you simply MUST check this shop out as the dresses and shoes are jaw dropping!
