We ate breakfast here on the weekend, and it was fantastic. Thankfully we ordered one of the larger cooked breakies between the two of us, as there was no way I could have finished it myself. The OJ was the most pulpy OJ I've ever "drank" too, I had to chew some of it! (That's not a complaint!).
We ate outside under the heaters, and the waiters were quick and efficient. The only downside was it was quite difficult to get inside to pay - I felt like I was in the way as the register was right next to the kitchen door.
We ordered some takeaway from here to eat back in our motel room over the weekend, and I wasn't disappointed. Their gongbao chicken was just as I remembered it tasting like in China, and their steamed buns were fab. Hubby wasn't as impressed with their combo seafood on rice - almost entirely mushrooms and lacking in flavour. Still, the food was prepared quickly and I loved watching the chef make their own noodles while we waited.
I'm a bit disappointed with The Max since they changed hands recently. We used to eat there quite a bit as it's very close to our work, and we could order meals in advance to save some time. The last time we ate there, it was terribly cold inside, and some items on the menu were not available (found this out when we tried to order them). The food is always good though, and it seems quite a popular spot on the weekends.
This is easily the best Mexican restaurant in Geelong. It's generally quite busy, but the service is good and your meals always arrive quickly. I love the flag system for seeking service - so much better than trying to grab a waitress' attention!
The new operators here (run by Truffleduck) have really improved the look and feel, and the layout of the cafe works so much better.
Food prices are on the higher side, but there are some cheaper alternatives. I love that they'll provide half serves of their wedges for half the price (after making the mistake of ordering one serve before - it fed three people!)
Can be full of students during teaching times, but during holidays it's a quiet place to sit down and chat. I can't wait for summer, as it'll be lovely to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine with my lunch.
Hubby and I are here recently using our Entertainment Book card (25% off) which made this a more affordable option than in the past. I had the duck with poached pear, which was fantastic, and my husband had a steak which he loved. We went on a Thursday night and the place was packed, so best to book. Would have liked to see more wines by the glass, as we couldn't finish off a bottle.
The steak here is unbeatable. Salads and chips are extra, and ordered on top of your choice of steak, so the price does stack up, but this is a once-in-a-while restaurant for us. Very glad they sorted out their rent problems and remained in Geelong!
This is a lovely little restaurant to visit - the decor is great, service is quick and the food is lovely. Their cake fridge has the most amazing looking treats, but we're usually way too full to even contemplate eating dessert!
They offer late breakfast too, so if you're anything like me, you can satisfy your eggs benedict craving at lunch time!
I absolutely love their teas, especially Monk - there's nothing like it! The range is just incredible, and I love going into their stores and seeing walls of beautifully presented teas.
The Bannockburn farmers' market is growing month by month, and there is now so many stallholders. You can get fresh veggies and fruit, meats, bread, jams and preserves, cut flowers, plants and seedlings... even a sausage sizzle from the Lions Club chaps!
It runs the first Saturday of every month from 8:30am - 1pm, and is a great morning out.
