Unprofressional, uncommunicative, and untrustworthy.

From my experience, I would recommend that you do not use Wollongong Appliance Repairs.

My mother (pensioner in her late 70s) called them regarding a fault on her 4-year old washing machine. The machine was still under extended warranty, which she was not completely confident about, but thought was the case and informed the Wollongong Appliance Repair guy (Jason) of, to which he said, ’it won’t be, usually they have only 2-years’.

He then told her that repairs would be $538. The machine (which was under warranty) cost $775 4-years ago and is worth about $250 now. He also told her that in his view her machine was worth $1700, presumably to make the cost of the repair sound reasonable. As Wollongong Appliance Repairs are not an authorised repairer under the warranty, and the work was done prior to any claim, it can’t (understandably) be claimed under warranty now.

To add insult to injury when she explained to me the issue, having a similar machine, I don’t believe it had any fault, it simply required a reset.

I have emailed, called and texted Wollongong Appliance Repairs since then on at least a dozen occasions, to zero response. Nada. No reply, no call back, no acknowledgement. It’s almost like they know what I’m calling about, which speaks volumes to their business model.

Any company who takes advantage of an elderly woman, over-charges for work that was covered under her warranty, lies about the value of the appliance to presumably make the repair cost sound reasonable, and then refuses to return any messages, does not deserve your business.
