Great place, staff were friendly and the seal show was great! Only downfall was the photos were so expensive. Otherwise loved it there and can’t wait to take our kids
Approximate cost: $60
A lovely local place to take the kids for a day out. It was raining when we went and this was the perfect place to spend the day out of the rain. So many different sea creatures to see. We particularly liked the seal show. My kids loved the new kids play area.
Underwater world is a great family experience and offers a great insight into marine life both inside and out of Australia. The exhibits they have are very interesting and there is a touch and feel tank which gives you a rare opportunity to feel the marine life. The shows they run throughout the day are informative and entertaining. It is a great fun and educational day to take the kids for.
We took our family here whilst on our weekend getaway and we all loved it. There is something for everyone! Hubby was taking pics of all the cool different animals. The bub thought the seal show was hilarious. 6 year old is Shark crazy, so them suckers swimming above us was amazing for him. Our seven year old loved being able to touch the starfish and cucumbers as we first walked in! Great fun!

Approximate cost: $35
perfect for overseas students. so much to see ,touch and experience. ,thanks lisa
Visited Underwater World. It was ok but nothing grand. The best was the seal show, the animals and the trainer did really well, worth watching. However, the place is going through reno so some animals were relocated. Overall, I felt it was too expensive for what it had to showcase: 1 croc, oversized fish, a few sharks and stingrays, a few turtles. The variety wasn't grand. I'm sure the kids would like it but it wasn't much to my liking, sorry.

Wanted to go here for quite a while. So on a trip to Caloundra we decided to stop off and pay it a visit.
We were all a little disappointed. The place looks as if it could do with a big injection of money.
The actual aquariums are really interesting and the underwater walk through was brilliant. (Had to go around twice as the kids loved it so much).
We all enjoyed the seal lion show. Wonderful seeing all these creatures and they all looked well looked after too.
Staff friendly and helpful. Really chatty and informative.
The kids enjoyed the touch pool. I touched the sea cucumber and won't be doing that again. Urgh!
Great site shop too. Plenty to see and purchase.
We went mid week and still it was pretty busy with lots of families. So lovely to see the kids reactions to everything.
It cost us adults $35 to enter. Which at first I thought was quite steep but seeing all the work that needs to look after these creatures its wearable.
It just needs some money spent on the place so it can keep up with the modern world idea of entertainment.

This attraction is excellent and offers something for the whole family at reasonable prices. The attractions are at childrens height which is great for children as well and there are seals, otters, sharks, fish, turtles, crabs and everything else to do with the ocean to look at. We came here when our son was about two and a half and decided to take our daughter who is one and a half there after receiving a twenty percent off voucher on the back of a shop a docket. The attraction is undergoing a renovation at the moment (which I am sure is well needed) and we have been given free entry passes to go back in lieu of the renovations. Well Done and we will come again.
Approximate cost: $100.00
I took my daughter who was 10 months at the time and 6 year old niece. We all really enjoyed our experience at Underwater world. My favourite part of the day was the seal show (6 year old also really enjoyed this). The layout is good and its easy to find your way around, cafe is avaliable if you want to buy lunch. I found the staff to all be really friendly and helpful, they were also great with the kids and very knowlegble. The fish were really well displayed and lots of variety. Very imformative if you want to learn more and several shows you can attend throughout the day. Great day out for all ages! The only negative is it is a bit expensive but good for a once of experience.
Approximate cost: $30
Underwater World is a place to visit to discover the marine life on the Queensland coast. I only gave 3 stars because i have to queue outside for too long and when i wanted a cup of coffee, the cafe had shut at mid afternoon which should have been open right up near closing time...great facility otherwise...don't miss it!!

I've attended Underwater world numerous times. I went there as a child and have now continued to take my son. It is very expensive for what it is. The highlight is on wildlife protection and avoiding pollution and negative effects on their habitats. If you take the time to walk through and read all the little signs out and explain what each creature is and does, you and your children will learn a lot. It's best to plan out the day as show times are infrequent and easy to miss. The seal show hasn't changed much for years and is a little tired and a bit boring. The seals are very cute though and I do like the heavy focus and involvement of them joining in on education of pollution. The star fish touch tank is brilliant and of course the glass tunnel tank is always awesome. They also offer sleep overs with schools or large groups here too. A wonderful experience for kids.
Approximate cost: $35
We went to Underwater World before the shark tunnel reopened as it was slightly cheaper. The touch tank is great, depending on the staff member there and how informative they are. The seal show was okay. The otter show was fantastic, with a staff member who was very informative and passionate about otters. It makes such a difference when it's more than just a job! Nothing else was outstanding. It's overpriced, and the photo I bought was dodgy.
We went to Underwater World yesterday - the new section is now open. It was really wonderful, although a little bit more expensive than I expected. We went with people who had been before and they said the guy currently training the seals & otters and doing the shows was not there when they came last and he is much more informative and entertaining than the shows they had seen previously. The starfish touch tank is also great. We loved the underwater tunnels and the turtle habitat most but there was also heaps more to see. We spent nearly 5 hours there and had a really great time.
Underwater World is located in the middle of Moollolaba. Great display of aquatic life, from turtles, fish, sharks and seals through to coral and other sea life. Opportunity to touch starfish, learn about the animals and, the highlight, walk in a glass tunnel to observe the fish, sharks and rays. My kids made me go through it at least half a dozen times! Would have loved a cheaper option for late arrival (we got there an hour before closing time and after "shows" were over).
Approximate cost: $35
This is a really good place to take kids of all ages. Everywhere you go it is very pram friendly, so much to do and see and touch. The small pool that has a staff member at it handing the kids sea cucumbers, starfish etc to hold and touch while they tell you a bit about them is amazing. You don't need to be here all day so it works well and is reasonably priced. You can also have seal encounters which was a real treat for the kids to be so close and get a big sloppy seal kiss!
Not as good as other aquariums that I've been to, but Underwater World is still a great day out. The seal show is fun but the shark tunnel is the main attraction.
When I visited the aquarium in January the shark tunnel area was closed due to renovations so we were offered a reduced rate although it wasn't really much of a discount. When were inside we soon realised that the shark tunnel is obviously a main feature of the aquarium as the other tanks and enclosures were not as exciting. It probably only took about 35 minutes to get through all of the displays.
Overall the aquarium was ok, but other Aquariums like the AQWA in Perth, or the Melbourne Aquarium or even the Darling Harbour Aquarium are all a million times better with many more displays and tanks, and they are a lot cheaper!
Approximate cost: $28
I have been heading to Underwater wold on the wharf siince i was a little girl, we love it here, its great for the kids and to get up close to some underwater scaries!!
Great day out, reasonably priced.
Approximate cost: $45. ea
Underwater world is always a great day out! The aquarium fish are amazing and the displays are interesting and fun. We always enjoy the seal show and last time even indulged in a close encounter and got a great photo to remember the day! The place is a tad old and might benefit from a renovation but it is still a great place to go! My favorite is the arched aquarium where the sharks are kept.
A really fun, relaxing day out for the family or friends. Very educational and diverse. Love it!!
We went to underwater world most recently about two months ago, we just went for the day but have had annual passes before. The kids always have a great day and I love looking at all the fish in the big aquarium. The seal shows are good but I dont like the otters much as they stink, which I suppose is why they are outside! A good place to go with kids, especially when its raining and there isnt many other places like this that are all undercover.
A great family fun day out, the kids love the place, the sharks are their favorite. Very educational and hands on with the touch and feel pool.
The wildlife was very diverse and exciting and the live shows were hilarious and very entertaining, but within an hour we found ourselves with nothing to do. The shark viewing tunnels were under construction, which was quite disappointing as that is perhaps their main attraction. It was an enjoyable experience, but perhaps more suited to families with younger children, otherwise it can be a bit boring.
this is a place that quite often has special deals on annual passes etc. bit dissapointing at the moment as the shark and fish viewing tunnel is not open. they are re doing it and will be well worth it when the new updated tunnel opens.
not really a place to stay all day though. good for a couple of hours.
Underwater world is good value for money, we have had the annual pass before and well and truely got our monies worth. Its great on rainyndays when you have small kids who are going stir crazy at home, because its all undercover and the kids love it
I purchased season passes to Underwater World last year. The kids (aged 5 and 3) adore the place. They find the moving tunnel amazing, and can go around it quite a number of times. We all enjoy the seal show, and touch tanks (containing sea stars and sea cucumbers). I particularly enjoy the frog exhibits, and there are many little posters throughout Underwater World that give extra information about various creatures, coral, etc.
I do think the prices for entry are far too high. I would never go normally, nor would I encourage others to go there, unless they've picked up a shopper docket or discount coupon somewhere. They often have Adults-at-Childrens-Prices type deals - which brings entry down to a more reasonable price. I also think it is looking a bit dated, particularly outside! More new shows would provide more interest to those of us have have been a few times before.
Although I (and the kids) have enjoyed our season passes, I will not be renewing them. Good for a visit though (with a discount coupon)!
a great family day out. the kids loved this expereince, especially the sharks. The attraction was clean, fun and very interactive. Staff were happy to help and very friendly. My kids loved the sharks the most
Great fun for the whole family at Underwater World on the Sunshine Coast. From little kids right up to the grandparents there's something there for everyone. Touch and feel tank, great underwater view of the fish and sharks, the seal show. A great place to spend the day.
Approximate cost: $100
I have just come back from my first holiday with my family and we took the kids there i absolutely loved it and so did my kids ,espicially the seal show and i got a photo taken with a seal kissing my cheek its something you will never get again. The underwater tunnel with the sharks was brilliant and my 3 year old son loved it the whole experience was amazing and the souvineer shop was very good in prices. All the animals were great.
Approximate cost: $80
Underwater world is a MUST SEE when you next visit the Sunshine Coast. The live seal show is worth the price of admission alone, and then there's the amazing marine life scattered throughout the complex.
I loved the shark tank, and the moving walkway makes it easy to see everything in it by just standing still and looking around.
We didn't go for any of the "extras" but they also do a behind the scenes tour, you can have your photo taken kissing a seal, you can swim with the seals and you can even go for a dive in the shark tank (without a cage or glass wall between you and the sharks & rays).
Approximate cost: $30 per adult
