Transit is the perfect place to go for an after work drink with mates, nice chilled atmosphere. They have fair prices on drinks unlike a lot of the other bars in the CBD. They can be very busy when well known acts are on but they still get through the orders quickly and without problems.

A nice casual pub in the middle of town. I came with a large group (about 15-20 of us) and staff were more than accommodating for us. I haven't seen the live shows unfortunately but heard great things. Great place to play pool and catch up with friends on a casual night out.
It can get quite busy, but they get some great indie acts coming through Transit and it's worth it for that. Also worth checking it out on a quieter night- they get some great, but pretty unknown, talent coming through.
The Transit is a great place to go for a quiet drink outside, with a great space outside for a quiet drink and just a wonderul atmosphere
Transit bar is located directly underneath the YHA - therefore usually full with travellers but making drinks slightly cheaper than the rest of the venues around.
Tues night is Karaoke which makes for a laugh.
Hold events and gets out of town musicians in often.
Pool tables are great.

One of the better bars in Canberra! They have live music, everything from reggae to trance. They have pool tables and a great outdoor area.
Grungy place filled mainly with occupants from the YHA upstairs. Pizzas are their specialty -- cooked on the spot and great value if you have 2 people (2 for 1 on weeknights). they have karaoke nights and trivia nights now as well for entertainment. Good place for a quick bite or to hang out with friends.
