Lygon Street is the place to go for authentic Italian food in Melbourne and Tiamo 2 doesn't disappoint. The pizza here is simply beautiful, perfect Italian style with quality ingredients. Bellisima!
Great Italian food on Lygon st. Really busy and you’ll generally have to queue up but food is delicious, authentic Italian and good value
Recently visited Ti Amo from Sydney
This place was busy
Upon arrival we asked if they could accommodate us and they did.
Being Italian it was great to hear people chatting in Italian you know the food will be good.
And it was
The pizza was amazingly delicious
Everyone enjoyed their meals
Great friendly service
Staff were always happy to help
Definitely returning when next in Melbourne
Approximate cost: $160

absolutely love this place. the seating however is very limited and the place is never quiet. but so worth it cause the food is great
I agree
We were in the area & fancied a bit of Italian but nothing too heavy. Came across Tiamo and were pleasantly surprised. Although very busy & cramped the food was well worth it. For starters we had Bruschetta and garlic bread - very nice. Then for main I chose "Tortellini in Brodo" which is Chicken broth with spinach and meat filled tortellini. This was delicious and perfect as I had been unwell. My partner had "Spaghetti Don Giovanni" which had mussels, clams and spinach cooked with garlic, oregano and chilli in a light Napoli sauce. It was all so gorgeous we returned the following week and ordered the same. Next time we go back we'll try some of their other dishes we saw enjoyed at other tables. Highly recommend this place!
Prompt service, good for going across the road to the Nova Cinemas. Pizzas on the specials boards were something different. Both nice though we liked one more than the other
Approximate cost: $20 medium size
this place SCREAMS italian, think TGIF but european, their walls are covered with signs and posters and just the overall atmosphere takes you back to italy
staff were okay, food was fine (and relatively cheap, given their portions)
this restaurant's definitely more a family, catch up with friends restaurant than a date type restaurant, it's a bit noisy inside from all the customers but i guess that's what makes it lively
Approximate cost: $30
Been going there for years....love the place
Sounds like a place to try.
Love this place. The food is very typical Italian and so is the atmosphere. Only problem you may have to wait for a table. But in the end its worth it.
Whenever I'm down Lygon Street and feeling a little or very peckish I come here :) there are so many places down this street that u can go but I always think to come here first before anywhere else. I especially love their muscles in a red tomatoe sauce - simply delicious! And great pizzas and sharing tapas plates.
The service is nothing to brag about though... Sometimes I find them to be a bit rude.. But the chef shouldn't b punished - definitely go for the food not the fantastic service
Agree with you totally.
i do have to admit i had to wait around for a bit until i was served
This place is great for an early bite to eat before going across the road for a movie at the nova. Later on at night it gets really busy and quite noisy. The food is pretty good - not fantastic but reliably good.
A fun little place to eat. The food was pretty good although I had to wait quite for the waiter to bring the menu. There is so much competition around I'm not sure if I'd go back.
Quite a popular place and I really don't understand why. The place is cramped and the food is bland, hardly worth the wait personally. Staff seemed rushed and on one occasion our drinks never came.
Approximate cost: $18.00
This place has a great atmosphere especially when it's crowded on a winter night. Their minestrone was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Their pizzas are really great as well!
Tiamo always has lovely pizza and pasta options, with some specials and meatier mains like osso bucco or the mixed seafood grill! I've tried all the deserts too: tiramisu is a hearty sized portion, which is delicious, the lemon cheesecake is huge or finish with a coffee! The service is not the greatest you will find, but generally there is great value in the food.
Approximate cost: $17
Some of better Italian Restaurants in Melbourne. The pizzas are at the highest quality, very yummy!! The atmosphere of the place was very unique, but still kept its Italian atmosphere traditions. One of the only places that make nutella pizzas. So Good!! A bit on the expensive side, but food quality compensates for that.
Approximate cost: $30
My sister and I came here at about 8pm on a Tuesday night and the place was jammed! Good old italian food with lots of specials. We just shared a pizza but that was great. They bring out the meals fast which is great if you're after a quick meal (eg before or after a movie). But if you want to chill out and chat for a while, its great for that too. It's much bigger than it looks too - a huge upstairs area including outside upstairs - great on a warm night.

Tiamo 1 and Tiamo 2 are located next to each other on Lygon St, but I always seem to end up at Tiamo 2, as there are more inside tables and chairs. The food and serice is ok, but what I like is that you are generally left alone by the staff unless you ask for something. I would recommend having the homemade pasta with meat balls, followed by a hot chocolate.
