Great crispy chips and perfectly crumbed butterfish and flathead. Had takeaway, so sat outside in the sunshine to eat them - Wonderful! The fish size was a bit small for the price but probably on par with seafood costs these days.

Very disappointing, they use to be consistently excellent with their fish and chips but this is not what we experienced with our last to visits here. Very slow service, soggy chips and the fish didn't taste fresh, seemed overcooked and also soggy. We just walked over to the beach to enjoy our meal so it's not like we had it soaking the the car for 20 minutes. Was not impressed.

Always 5 stars as they offer the best fish and chips in Victor. Waiting time can sometimes be annoying but this is only because they are so busy all the time. Their potato fritters are particularly good. Always fresh delicious crispy chips and fish that isn't oily and soggy.

We love our fish and chips, so on a perfect day we like to go down to Victor and order some fish, chips and potato cakes and sit on the beach and enjoy. The fish is always perfect, fresh and generous, chips and potato cakes are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, once again perfect!

Such a popular fish and chip joint, always busy, often the line is out the door. Definitely worth waiting for as everything is so fresh, always perfect fish and chips at a great price with very friendly staff.

There are a few fish and chip shops in Victor now but I still say this is the best one. No complaints, delicious fresh fish and chips every time. You can even dine in if you wish but we usually just walk over to the beach and eat them their. The staff are always friendly and fairly quick with our order. Really gets busy on the weekends.

This is a popular place for work colleagues and myself at lunch time, the prices are so reasonable and the fish so fresh and cooked the way you want it. Chips are always crisp, never soggy, potato cakes very tasty and I have to mention their hamburgers - a must try. Staff are always friendly and very busy, often there is a line out the door on weekends.

Food here is consistently excellent, never been disappointed, highly recommend.

I ordered a piece of flake, seafood stick and dim sim .... and absolutely loved the fish as it was melt in your mouth and fresh tasting with no yucky oily aftertaste

the shop has a small dine in area and of course you can take away and sit at one of the small tables outside on the footpath to eat your treats (which we did!)

staff were polite in taking the order, even allowing me to pay via EFTPOS for my $9.50 when the min spend is $10, the young fellow gave me 50 cents change in coin - such good service!

This fish and chip shop has never failed me, always consistenly great fish and chips. The fish is always cooked just the way I prefer it, never oily and aways tastes fresh. As for the chips, always crisp. Prices are very reasonable, staff very friendly and efficient.

Really gets busy during the holiday seasons, I have seen people queueing on the street.

Consistently fabulous fresh fish and chips is what you will receive here. Never had any reason to complain, everything is always perfect.

When in Victor my friends and I nearly always pickup some chips for on our way home or to eat by the beach. Prices are very reasonable and the service is always fast and friendly.

Definitely recommend you try them, you wont be disappointed.

I have been here a few more times since my last review. Still great value with fast friendly service. We always go to Victor Harbor when we have family visiting and this is one take away place we make sure we go to. The fish is always fresh and quite decent pieces, we always have more than enough chips - so the seagulls are always happy. We usually just walk over to the beach and eat them there. Always busy, which is a good sign. Never been disappointed. Highly recommend you give them a try.

It was my first time at Victor Harbour and I happen to walk pass this fish and chips shop who claims to be the second best fish and chips shop in South Australia.
Hey!!! Such a big claim need to be put to the test. I went inside and order. The fish was cheap it was only $6 for a piece. After we got our order we went to the harbour and sat there to enjoy our meal. It was indeed one of the best fish and chips I have ever eaten.
If the second best fish and chips is this place, I truly wonder who the first is. If anyone knows please let me know.
Highly recommended if you're in the area. :)

This place serves up amazing fish and chips. I went here yesterday afternoon with some mates and ordered Butterfish, 2 crabsticks and chips for under $11, the fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked, the chips had a nice crunch to them and I also really enjoyed their crabsticks. They have dining both in and outside, but we normally just have take away and go and sit by the beach. Service was fast and friendly and butterfish very reasonably priced compared to their other fish. Definitely a place I will be visiting regularly over the christmas break. They now do eftpos with a minimum of $10.

The best value and best tasting fish and chips in victor harbor !! I only ever have take away from there as I love going and sitting by the beach and eating instead of indoors luckily it is only a 2 minute wall to the beach from there . The only issue is the fact that they are located on the main street means it is very hard to get front of building parking but that is out control of the business

Have been here a few times now, mainly in the warmer months when you don't feel like cooking. We usually pick up a large serving of chips, a few potato cakes and a couple of pieces of fish and head to a bench overlooking the beach. I found the staff to be quite friendly (even in busy times) and they cook the food just right - no complaints. I just think that they do charge a bit to much. I have only had take-away and not eaten in. The tables always seem to be full up though. Make sure you have cash on you because they don't do eftpos! I didn't realise this until I ordered and had to pay straight away. There is an ATM across the road - use it before you enter!!!! I will return in the warmer months.

A great location just up from a large reserve, so very convenient to grab lunch and then find a table or sit on lawn on a nice day. The store isnt modern, but it ozzes the fish and chip shops of days gone by. I have no complaints of the quality of the food served. Enjoyed every morsel. A very popular take away shop on weekends and holidays

I did not really like this store. The inside was quite old and tacky but reminiscent of your old fish and chip shop. The food was better than I expected although certainly not the best in SA, I come from Mount Gambier and they always had the best in SA in my opinion. Reasonably priced considering it is in Victor Harbor and the staff are friendly. It was not busy when we went so we were served straight away and the fish and chips were hot and fresh.

Nice fish and chips. Fish had a nice, thin batter, so you can taste the fish. Chips were crisp and cooked just right.
Shop looking a bit tired, but clean. Price, not cheap.
Service, OK, could be a bit friendlier (although, I know from experience, preparing food can be a draining task, a lot of fickle customers nowadays), so may have just been 'one of those days'.
Sign outside advertises 'The Best Fish & Chips In SA'. Big claim; could be!; I'm not sure?; make up your own mind.
But you shouldnt be disappointed with the taste.

Having bought fish and chips here before, we visited again recently and glad to say they still are the best on the south coast. The steak sandwich I had was excellent and I found myself eating some of my partners fish and chips too! Wonderful fish and chips and steak sandwich. I will be back!

I think the owners are lovely people always polite to their customers.. they are always packed so its best you ring in advance instead of waiting. They are always closed during schoolies week because there are trouble makers who mess the place up so its understandable that they close during schoolies. all they do is fish and chips, not burgers and nothing else, in a way that's a good thing because then they can concentrate on giving you great fish and chips. Tad annoying when your a delivery driver as the only parking zone is a few shops away. but thats not the customers issue.. expect frendly non arrogant service from a lovley family owned shop

We have dined in here and had takeaway. The fish and chips are fantastic and you get a really generous portion of chips as well. The interior decor is pretty tacky though and the lineup fence/gate for takeaway is a bit off putting - perhaps a number system would be less imposing? That being said if you want great fish and chips in Victor this is definitely the place to go.

Had a chat to a friend last night saying that I shouldn't expect something special when I hear about a rating on food.
And it's true for this shop. They say it's 'the best' and I can't say that I was disappointed. The batter wasn't too much or too doughy and the quality was reasonable in comparison. So all in all, it's a good fish and chips shop.
There's a funny sign on it though. Says best in SA and then only came runner up in the state. Go figure?
