My husband and I are looking for a new car and found ourselves in Gawler, in need of a coffee we stopped at the Java Hut, it was packed but fortunately didn't have to wait long for our coffee. The menu was quite large, but as it was so busy we didn't stay for a meal.
I have mixed views on The Java Hut. The food is great. Their pancakes are to die for and an indulgent treat and they do a great big breakfast which is THE best value in Adelaide! Hats off to the cook!!
It's a very popular place so go early to guarantee a seat, but because of this it can be very cramped to the point where you have to shuffle past people who are waiting to pay or get seated and they seem to cram everyone in. There's a lot of waiting staff and this just adds to the cramped conditions.
The staff are young, and inexperienced and, on my first visit where we at the end of the breakfast sitting, when the staff got out the mop and bucket and starting disinfecting the floor before we'd finished eating. The smell was so awful it put me off my food.
My suggestion, go early before the rush.
Absolutely love this place. They are well priced (really cheap) and their Hot Chocolates are HUGE!!!!!
I order the Vegetarian Breakfast and i've had to change to an entree serve as the main serve is way to big, and I can't fit my Banana Pancakes after. The pancakes are also delicious, and look forward to them especially on a cold winter's day.
It is great they have extended also, they are always busy open to close, so it pays to book, and it is always a good idea to book in the new section away from the door as there are lots of people coming in and out and the tables are quite close together.
If you are ever in Gawler head in for a visit, they close at 3pm on weekdays
I love getting the eggs Benedict. It's the best and a great price. Always busy so make sure you book in before hand. The staff are really friendly and happy to see us.

Went for breakfast and absolutely loved it. The food was fast and huge and the service great. Should have booked so was lucky to get in. Had the large breakfast and couldn't eat it all.

Went this morning for breakfast on recommendation and WOW. We had not booked and were able to be squeezed in. The breakfast was huge and could hardly eat it all. Staff were great, food was fast and enjoyable.
BEST VALUE!!!! staff are awesome and very helpful, pay when you finish the meal. The food is piled up on the plate and you could easily feed a family of four for $40. Make sure you book as always packed out

I haven't brought any food here but I do buy the coffee when I'm out and about the town. GREAT coffee! Mind you the food does smell good I'm usually in a bit of a hurry to stop and eat though.
Whenever I am in the mood for pancakes I go here! They do a brilliant eggs benedict on pancakes, and their tropical crepes are amazing. If I have visitors from interstate I make sure I take them to Java Hut for breakfast at least once. Great food, great coffee, great service. The only downside is that they are always busy so it usually pays to make a booking.
The Java Hut is a really lovely place to eat. Have great meals and good prices. Staff are good and will cater for your needs

For the best food in Gawler yo must go here, two people can dine for around $30 and thats with drinks. The meals are massive and great value. They are only open from 7am until 4pm, but they have the best breakfast you'll find. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and really make you feel special!

Java serve the best range and taste of breakfast anywhere with value that cannot be surpassed. The relaxed atmosphere and country hospitality are just bonuses to a fantastic start to any day.

Had a nice lunch here, what I would call 'homestyle' type cooking. Service was quick and friendly.Nott somewhere you might go out for lunch for a special occasion, just stop in for a quick meal or takeaway.
Always a smiling face to greet you when you walk in the door. Yummy food and great coffee in a pleasant atmosphere. Meals are always served quickly which is great when you have a limited time for a lunch break.
