what a sad state of affairs this is last time l went here was 1986 when it was fantastic food tourist shop went here 24th september 2016 what a waste of time and money why reopen it when there is nothing there staff rude not interested in there job Dont waste your time going there
I took the kids to see the big pineapple. Having heard negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. The pineapple is free to enter and looks great. The kids enjoyed it and liked the displays inside. The markets were closing when we were there but looked like they would be good.

even tho the farms there no longer exist they are making improvements with having the markets open and some of the food shops on weekends... the markets are reasonable, the big pineapple is still climable and a fantastic view from the top. there is a lovely fudge stall at the markets inside the old shops. lots of yummy foods, can still spend a big part of the day there. ew buy the jaffa fudge,ginger fudge and chocoloate or passionfruit ones. meals are great from a few places we have had. kebabs etc. sometimes a singer is present out on the verandah and you can buy his cd and he will sign it, music is pretty good whilst sitting and eating , great atmoshere.

Most people who visit the Sunshine Coast area have been to the Big Pineapple but what about visiting their Saturday Market? This has to be one of the best around with stall after stall of locally grown produce at a reasonable price and the stall holders are so helpful and offer samples of most of their produce. Where else would you buy a pineapple for $1 or 3 avocados for $1? It is so easy to get to as the local buses from the coast stop right at the door.
What was a spectacularly popular attraction around the time of the Ekka has fallen into a sad state of disrepair. We wandered around an empty shop and didn't take the train ride through the pineapple plantation that I so fondly remembered. Badly in need of a spruce up and major P.R overhall
I recently visited here during the week and it was closed. We went back on a Saturday when they hold a market day there, which was a lot of fun browsing the stalls. The pineapple itself is very educational and interesting and you get a great view from the top of it. It is a great place for kids and adults alike.
My kids loved climbing the big pineapple to look out of the top level. We took a train ride around the plantation - the narrative was a bit difficult to hear as the speaker was distorted. There is a little animal farm with a lovely older man who helps the kids get into the sheep pen and brush the sheep. Kids can purchase food for animals. All a bit rundown but the kids had fun.
Have always wanted to go to Queensland to see the Big Pineapple, finally got the chance and was hugely disappointed. In the pineapple itself there was an inch thick of dust and cobwebs everywhere. On the train ride around the plantation we couldn't hear the commentary nor on the macadamia ride.
This was a good experience, however most of the fun was in the animal areas - nothing much to do with pineapples. This is a really good place to take a family as there are quite a few native and farmyard animals that are very friendly, plus they can go on a train ride. The staff were friendly and knowledgable.
