I visited Tella Balls on Saturday afternoon after lunch. Although I was very very full, I decided I would try it out since I'm rarely in the area and I've heard so much hype!
There was a line for a table so we opted for takeaway and we allowed straight in. We decided to get one of their signature soft services in the donut cone. I found service at the counter friendly and quick.
The actual space of the cafe was quite cramped and stuffy however. I also think the layout was not well thought because the waiters and waitresses had to push past crowds of people at the counter to get in and out of the kitchen. The decor has a milk bar vibe, however it is a little cold and cramped instead of cosy.
Now the actual soft serve was delicious and creamy with great nutella flavour, although not too rich. The donut cone was delicious and soft, rolled in sugar and dipped in nutella around the rim. It was also hard enough to hold itself together and not fall apart with the melting ice cream.
I would definitely recommend visiting Tella Balls for the soft serve is you are in the area, although I'm not sure I would travel all the way again (I live about 50 minutes away)
Waited over an hour to get served. Kitchen was constantly running out of supplies. Crepes were dry, the waffles were tough and the taste was unimpressive. A lot of hype about nothing that special at all and pretty steep prices. Plenty of places around town getting it right, and this place fails on a lot of levels. It's never once been open until 11pm like the advertising says.
