Sun Direct Power

I accepted Sun Direct Power’s quote on 6 Feb 2026 and paid a deposit for a 19.95 kW solar + 41.93 kWh battery system at $12,999. Installation was repeatedly delayed: expected around mid-March, then within two weeks from around 30 March, then 29 April. Updates generally only came when chased. Phone communication was poor: the receptionist was the only person I could reach, no calls were returned, and no direct consultant contact seemed available. The first meaningful warning that the price may not be protected due to the May rebate/STC change came on the afternoon of 30 April, after nearly three months of reliance.
After the rebate change, Sun Direct said the original price could not be honoured and the system would now cost about $19,500 — roughly $6,500 more — or I could take a refund. Despite the delays, poor communication, and late warning being on their side, they offered no compromise at all on the increased price. The refund was also poorly handled: confirmed in writing on 6 May, bank details supplied the same day, then no meaningful response for about two weeks despite follow-up emails and calls. The refund was only processed after I lodged a recovery/dispute request with Westpac. The deposit was ultimately refunded, but based on my experience I would not recommend relying on Sun Direct Power’s pricing, timeframes, or communication unless everything is explicitly protected in writing.
