I recently had a disappointing experience at this store regarding pricing accuracy and customer service.
I was charged $9 for a 180g pack of M&M’s, despite the shelf price clearly being marked at $5.50. This is not only higher than the displayed price, but also above the typical retail price (around $7 full price, often discounted to approximately $3.50 elsewhere). When I later called the store, they acknowledged the shelf label was incorrect. However, when I returned the following day, the same incorrect $5.50 tag was still displayed despite the manager previous night over the phone to me said they would remove it
At the time of purchase, I raised the discrepancy, but it could not be properly addressed as there was only one staff member managing a long queue. I understand the constraints of being short-staffed, but the concern was dismissed without verification, and I was told the POS price was correct which is higher. As I was shopping with my young child—who was quite insistent on the items.
When I returned to resolve the issue, the refund process was also mishandled. I was initially charged again instead of being refunded, which required further correction and a double refund to fix the mistake. This added unnecessary inconvenience .
My main concern is the impact this has on customers—particularly parents shopping with children—where impulse purchases are common and price discrepancies are difficult to challenge at the counter.
I hope the store takes steps to ensure accurate pricing and better support for staff so that similar situations can be avoided in the future.
Also beating the lowest price with 20% lower though advertised doesn’t mean the same in reality
A good store but unfortunately is out of the way by being on the second floor. No wonder is it missed by customers visiting the complex
I avoid going to this shop unless I absolutely have to. You have to go searching for staff if you need assistance and when you find them they are not very friendly or helpful. Read similar reviews about the Brunswick store having "no service" as well.
great customer service! Some stock wasn't there when i needed it but the girl who served me went out of her way to get it for me from another store.
It is easy that this is in the Carngegie Shopping Centre now, it has just been recentely put up and i am very happy with this. I love spotlight for craft tasks and cheap material for projects. The assistances are very welcoming too!
Large store with a huge range of fabric, zips, fasteners etc. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, but a lot are not. We love the craft kits and craft bits. I think Spotlight is an essential community resource, given the range of fabric and bits. Great for "useful" presents
Approximate cost: $medium
busy, crowded but very useful store, sells a large range of useful accessories and fasteners as well as fabric. Very useful craft things and projects, our kids love the place and its hard to get them out of there. Often you can get stuff cheaper elsewhere, but its handy and has a very comprehensive range
Approximate cost: $cheap to med
