Fresh and tasty food. Funky little eatery with the best Japanese food on a budget. It's where I go for lunch every time I visit Melbourne.

This place is always busy at lunchtime but the line always move very quickly. Staffs are very efficient and friendly. I usually get sushi for takeaway or when eating with colleagues I usually order chicken teriyaki. Good value and tastes yummy.

Came once and loved it. The range of sushi is great, had a really enjoyable experience here. Definitely great if you're craving Japanese!

I loved this place. On my way from the airport and we were so hungry so I googled a few places near Southern Cross and found this little gem. Great, Exciting and fresh menu with lovely staff. So happy! Food was delicious also (I had the prawn soba salad)

Service is fast and food is very nice. Love their brown rice salad and onigiri. Staff are very friendly however place is very small and crowded at lunchtimes.

All i can say is great lunch spot.
The Food is tasty, the price is cheap and service is prompt.
For those who have not try this place, you should and get the kakuni pork belly because it is amazing.

Great on a hot day! Good value meal at $5.50 for sesame dressing on green beans and carrot and a creamy potato salad. Love the pickled ginger in a jar that you can help yourself to. Seating is however quite limited.

You have to give this place a try - do this outside of lunchtime or prepare to queue. They do lovely brown rice sushi and delicious salads and a most excellent tofu burger. Service can be all over the place and it ain't fancy but the food is excellent

Absolutely one of the best Japanese cafes in the city. It is always packed but it does not take long to get served. Brown rice sushi is available in a wide range of flavours and the dishes are so unique and tasty!

Love the food here. Run by Japanese I had high expectations and I was not disappointed. It has the edge to cater to Australian produce and food almost always runs out close to lunch time.

Expect fresh flavours, great sushi, amazing dishes! The food offered can be healthy, wholesome or fried and decadently saucy and comforting!

The best sushi place I have been to! They have a selection of brown rice sushi and other hot food such as noodle dishes. everything is made fresh. Place gets very busy at lunch time, but worth it!

Had an excellent vegetable curry with an aromatic, piquant sauce. Aside from its curries, the place is also known for its sushi, teriyaki chicken, tasty burgers and fresh salads. The potato salad features creamy Japanese mayonnaise, which adds a touch of authenticity to the dish.

I've also tried the chicken burger and this is particularly good. The meat is soaked in sake, soy, ginger, and sesame oil, which adds to its flavour and tenderness. The burger was generously sized, with lovely fresh bread and healthy fillings.

The decor is creative and arty, with lines of office workers heading out the door when the (admittedly limited) tables inside fill up.

Purple Peanuts also has an open kitchen, which amps up the entertainment factor for hungry customers.

I will be back.

Awesome Japanese Cafe/Sushi Bar. They do brown rice sushi rolls in addition to the normal white rolls which are really really good for lunch. The hot food is also fabulous... if you want more than your average sushi bar, this is the place to go...
