I would highly recommend this cool place. We called in to get coffee on our way to the airport today and had great service and the best iced latte we’ve had on our trip.

I usually stop at Java Lounge for coffee and cake, although I've had lunch there on a few occasions. The coffee is always excellent and the cakes and cheese cakes are delicious. The lunch specials board is well worth a look - I once selected the rabbit dish and it was scrumptious. They also serve a good range of breakfast fare.

Whenever I visit the cafe, there always seems to be a table available and the service is polite and prompt.

The lighting is a little dim and the decor somewhat dated which doesn't bother me, but might be off putting for some. My only suggestion is that the pictures of orange cars on the walls should probably be replaced by something more appealing to the eye. Obviously it's not a deal breaker for me because I keep coming back. There are outside tables if the inside ambience is an issue.

Orders are placed and paid for at the counter. I actually like this because I'm not stranded at a table wondering when I'll be served and I can just leave when I'm finished eating.

I love the giant smarties they give you with your coffee!
The coffee is great too, I will go their again. Great for catching up with friends and great for a meal or snack before the movies.

I like sitting at the couches near the window and I like the fact you get a huge orange smartie thing with your coffee.Chili pizza with sour cream is yum but I don't often go because its too pricey for what you get.I would have to agree that the majority of staff I have encountered are not that friendly.

They make good coffee. However for the most part their service is terrible - staff are generally unfriendly and I have witnessed rudeness to patrons.

I've been there a few times now, only because friends wanted to meet there. The coffee was OK but definitely nothing special. The place looks dull and dreary and the couches are old and dirty. The prices are something you'd expect in an upmarket cafe, but this place just doesn't look upmarket. Very commonplace actually.

We have been there a few times mostly just for coffee . But the last time will be the last time. The waitress was just rude and surly much to our dissapointment.

Just had drinks and a light meal. Their freshly squeezed juice was really nice, and the pizza bread with sweet chilli and sour cream was pretty tasty. The lighting and seats inside were pretty cool too.

First visit after recomendation from a work friend. Great location only a walk across the road to our movie. Tried the Kangaroo which was as good as any meal i have had in Ballarat, my wife was rapt with her barramundi. Good list of local wines, wait staff (who i think was the owner) also had great knowledge of his wines. I heard they do great coffee to but didn't get a chance to sample this.

First visit since the new owners have taken over, seems to have had a revamp on the menu with great choice, plenty of vegetarian options for my wife. particulary enjoyed a cheese and wine afternoon they run on weekends. Steak was sensational, little bit of a wait but the place was full, overall good experience

The first few times i went there it was great, loved the atmosphere and the couches in the window, great meals, range of hot chocolate flavors, however had a not so good experience the last time I went there were the meal was not up to the usual standard.

I have been there many times, and have always enjoyed the food, coffee and ambience. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food and drinks can be a bit pricy, but it is worth it. I love the varied artworks, and they always have good music.

Java lounge is a great little place, pretty trendy, a good selection of bites and beer/coffee. The serivce is usually pretty good although last time we went, all but 1 meal came out which was pretty dissapointing.

I have had mixed experiences at Java Lounge. The first couple of times I felt that the food was quite nice but not brilliant service. The last time I went the food was really disappointing. The way it is set up is cool but its is generally a let down.

I went to Java Lounge last night with my Girlfriend and 3 friends, we all liked the sound or the calamari, so we ordered 3 sweet chili calamari and 2 lime and pepper (one gluten free) and also 2 Nachos. The nachos were rather burnt but surprisingly that added an interesting flavor to the mix, however the calamari was considered by all to be very poor, my lime and pepper had only a hint of lime while my girlfriends was over powered with the lime. The service was disappointing as it was rather slow and the waiter was new and to boot there were only 5 other customers in there!
