Il Dolce Freddo

Oh my gosh their gelati is worth the wait - too many flavours to choose from but that's half the fun - delicious, mouth watering, soul soothing il dolce gelati.

Yummy flavours. The waffle cones are crunchy and tasty.
I had a one scoop cone of tiramisu.
My kids all enjoyed theirs.
I think they need a kids size cone/cup though; it was far too much with even just one scoop.

Great ice cream shop where you can come in and try some tester before you order what you like. Huge varieties of ice cream flavours and gelato which is my favourite, and you can choose from a cone or cup. Staff are so friendly especially to my son when we were there, and there is noting better than strolling around Carlton with an ice cream in your hand

I always have this ice cream whenever Im in Melbourne! The most disappointing thing about il dolce freddo is that it's not open for winter (from July to end August)! All flavours are very delicious and they offer tasters as well, so dont be afraid to ask for some. Portions are rather generous as well, it costs $5 for a double scoop/two-flavour cup was quite good I thought.

yummy yummy! delicious gelato!! order the ferrero flavor with lychee!! the pandan is really yummy too. their flavors are rich and taste just like the original thing itself. definitely would like to go back and try the other flavors! its one of the best out there!

one of the more expensive gelati places on lygon, but make no mistake theirs is particularly fresh and a bit more fancy and gourmet

The absolute best ice cream in Melbourne. Since visiting for myself in 2008 I have taken many people for ice cream here and all of them have raved about how food it is afterwards. The price is a little high but truly it's so darn good I'm happy to pay for it! All the flavours are equally good and the cups they come in I'll admit have been taken home to use for other things and as reminder to go back again!

Really rich and creamy gelato. Love the range of flavors, especially the fruits like Durian, which my friend loved. Tiramisu was really lovely. Service wasn't the best, felt a little cold at times compared to other gelati spots with bubbly staff.

Best gelato in town. I have been patronising them over the past 5 years. My favourites are Rocher and Durian. They recently increased their prices. Personally find it bit exp for a small cup.

I went there more than 5 times. The best flavour is the Ferrero Rocher. The durian is amazing as always. The service is friendly too.

Great little gelateria which I love to go to. I love the baileys flavour ice-cream it was quite delicious.

One of the spots I always bring relatives visiting from overseas to... the ferero rocher ice cream... even during winter. Make sure not to go all the way there on Mondays though, I made that mistake twice... it does not open on Mondays...

this is absolutely the best place for ice cream in melbourne. i've tried just about all of their offerings and they are all deliciously creamy and flavorsome. try some of the more unusual asian fruit ice creams. great value. they just need to train the staff to be a bit friendlier :)

This is a must-visit place in Melbourne for gelato. I never fail to be happier when I step out of the shop with a cone of gelato in my hands. The consistent and rich flavours of Roche, Green Tea, Durian and a lot others encourages me to go for more. It definitely is a great morale booster to anyone having a bad day.

I have now confirmed that this is the best ice cream in Victoria let alone Australia. I consider myself to be a bit of a ice cream connoisseur and having tried many ice cream flavours from many gelato shops Dolce Freddo is all that and a bit more! Very traditional, fantastic flavours. You have to try the Nutella and Roche (Ferrero Rocher).

With such a plethora of choice in Melbourne for gelato, I'm going to stick my neck out and proclaim Il Dolce Freddo as my favourite. They make a range of flavours ranging from the usual like fruits of the forest and choc-mint, but also do more esoteric flavours like green tea, coconut and pandan (screwpine) and lychee (litchee). No matter what flavour you choose, the taste will never disappoint you - the flavours are true, never synthetic tasting or sickly sweet.
