When was your business founded?

Great Advice opened in 2012 and works from a ground-floor office in Springwood on Brisbane's south side, with free parking on site.

What guarantees or warranties do you offer, if any?

No one can guarantee investment returns, and we never promise them. What we do stand behind is how we work. Fees are quoted in dollars before you commit, and our advice is set out in a written Statement of Advice. The first meeting is free with no obligation.

What is your level of experience in this line of work?

Principal adviser George Iacovou has more than 16 years' experience as a financial adviser, most of it helping people in the last ten working years before retirement. Adviser Dan Hutchison works alongside him. Both are authorised representatives of Akumin Financial Planning Pty Ltd (AFSL 232706).

What certifications, qualifications or awards has your business received?

George Iacovou holds an AQF Level 8 qualification in financial planning and practises as a Financial Planner AFP, a designation of the Financial Advice Association Australia. Dan Hutchison also holds an AQF Level 8 qualification in financial planning.

What is your fee structure like? Fixed fees? Hourly rates?

Fees are fixed and quoted in dollars up front. Initial advice ranges from $3,300 to $6,600 depending on complexity. Ongoing advice ranges from $1,650 to $9,900 a year, and the hourly rate is $550. The full fee schedule is published on our website.

Are you a member of any professional / industry associations?

George Iacovou is a member of the Financial Advice Association Australia and practises as a Financial Planner AFP. Both advisers are authorised representatives of Akumin Financial Planning Pty Ltd, which holds Australian Financial Services Licence 232706.

What makes you unique compared to your competitors?

We specialise in the last ten working years before retirement and the years just after it, so the work centres on superannuation, retirement income, Age Pension entitlements and aged care costs. Fees are quoted in dollars before any work starts, and clients have given us a 5.0 Google rating.
