Refused a wheelchair booking because he would take up too much room and they needed all the seats available for money. Yet they advertise wheelchair accessibility on their website. You should be shut down!!
We purchased take away for dinner. The entree samosa and pakora were very good but our 2 curries were only average and the naan was terrible. Would not return.
Approximate cost: $15
We have eaten here a number of times and the food while OK is not really Indian. It's more spicy stew than curries. The owner can be a bit of a bully and try to upsell you to more expensive dishes.
His wife who serves is lovely.
Approximate cost: $20
Went here for the first time to eat-in, and it definitely won't be the last time!!! The food tastes quite authentic! If you want hot, it can be hot, if you want tasty, it's all tasty!
The lady running the place, I believe is also the owner, was friendly and funny, and made us feel relaxed and at home immediately.
Prices were around the mark for Indian food in the suburbs, but the quality was better than most!
Approximate cost: $16.00
The food here is lovely and after a few positive experiences with take away we decided to eat in. The service was very pushy, We had to order (and pay for) more food than we wanted and spend our evening deflecting aggressive up-selling. It made the dining experience less than relaxing. Good for takeaway but I personally would not eat in again.
Approximate cost: $25
In the words of today's youth, OMG how nice are these people? Hubby & I ate here a few weeks back on a friend's recommendation, & having never been there before, we went with the owner's suggestions. One meal was a little spicy for me, but boy was it good! The premises are tiny & really outdated but there's a kitchy sort of charm about it. It probably only seats about 20 people, but they certainly do a lot of take-away, & it was very busy. Even so, the owners both took some time to chat to us, & they're both really adorable & that level of service can change an average night into an excellent night.
Approximate cost: $20-25
Great food and a lovely manager. The setting is not the best but the food more than makes up for it.
Approximate cost: $20
Have only ever had take away from Ginger Garlic..... and all i can say is ...... YUM!!!!!!! lovely people, fine service and delicious food. am drooling over their gulab jaman as i type.
Bought take-away for the first time last night. Going on the reviews of friends I thought this place would be awesome but was heavily disappointed. After placing my order and paying for it I was then told it would be a 40minute wait. Felt somewhat annoyed that I wasn't told this prior to placing the order. Got the food home and one of the curries was wrong. There was A LOT of sauce (which was delicious) and barely any meat about 7 or 8 cubes in each dish. The rice was ordinary and the naan was "sweaty" from being inside the bag while being transported home. It was nice as far an Indian goes, but not particularly good value.
Approximate cost: $10
Had heard great reviews but have been a bit disappointed on a couple of occasions. Turned up marginally late with a group of friends and were informed that we could only get banquet menu. Told there were a number of meals we couldn't order as chef had left for the night. Asked to leave when we were the last patrons there. Food ok but some dishes a bit too early. Not quite as good as we expected.
Although the food was very nice, the service left a lot to be desired. After popping our champagne, we began to order and were informed that there was a minimum $20 per person spend. We were also informed that if we got one main meal, we'd 'barely get a spoonful each', and so we needed to order one main and one entree per person.
To satisfy the minimum spend, we requested for them to calculate our costs after ordering, so that we could accordingly spend more if needed. They refused to do this. We requested a calculator, and they came back with a piece of paper and a pen. Then he proceeded to take the paper back (bar one page) so that he could actually take our order!!!
Our soft drinks arrived, and were flat. As I said the food was very nice, however each main could easily satisfy two people, especially if an entree was ordered to share, & rice was needed for the dish. The meal sizes were similar to most Indian restaurants. So, in the end we ordered WAY too much food and overspent our $20 minimum. Did we want dessert - no thanks!
We went here for my husband's birthday and were very disappointed as we had heard lots of great reviews. One of our dishes was overcooked and when asked for a replacement dish they refused. Having no liquor license was a little frustrating.
Very small restaurant with superb Indian food, especially their specialty fish dish. Also does take away. We make a point of going if in Melbourne and usually need to book. Has won a number of awards and had many great write ups.
Authentic Indian cuisine that's a little different from other Indian restaurants because they showcase variations of the dishes from different areas of India. Really good food and great service too.
This is my favourite Indian resaturant, not just in Eltham but in all of Melbourne. It's a very popular restaurant that has won lots of awards. They have a great variety of dishes, huge menu.
The restaurant is cosy and intimate for a date. Make sure you book in advance. They also do alot of take away.
