Fish Tank

After our local fish and chip shop closed down to make way for a new apartment block in Ormond Village, Elwood, we were faced with finding a new local.
We tried a few around the traps but weren't overly impressed with the quality or the price.
We looked on UrbanSpoon and TrueLocal for good reviews, and came across Fish Tank. We also had a quick chat to one of our neighbours (we live in an apartment building) who also heard good things from their friends about 'the fish and chip shop in Brighton near Coles'.
We arrived and the place was BUZZING. Straight away we knew we were onto a good thing.
Although extremely busy, their shop was well presented, as were their staff.
I work late so we tend to get there close to closing time, but they are still more than happy to take our order, have a chat about our days while waiting for the order, and always provide service with a smile.
Thank you, Fish Tank, for being a great place to eat (or take away) and provide fantastic quality food at a great price. We happily return each time!

My absolute Favourite fish and chip shop - with a marked difference. Here is a place where you can buy fresh fish, ready to cook, or the most delicious fresh fish, cooked to perfection, to eat in or take away. Sit outside on a sunny evening, sip on a cool glass of wine or beer and dine on what has to be one of the best meals ever. The prices are great too. Have a look at their website fishtankbrighton.com.au. It is one place I really miss since leaving Melbourne. No need to go to expensive seafood restaurants, for quality and value you have to eat here. Sit outside and watch the sun go down, the world go by with a delicious meal and a glass of something cold, honestly, what could be better!

My boyfriend and I have been on the search for a good fish and chip place for a while and after reading good reviews on Womow we decided to give Fish Tank a try. It was very busy when we went and it was a warm night so we had to wait a while to order and to get a table outside. It took about half an hour for us to get food but I guess that's what happens when somewhere is popular. Fish Tank isn't your average fish and chip place... it's set up like a nice cafe and you can get reasonably priced beer, wine and nice salads with your fish and chips. It's more expensive than a fish and chip takeaway but less expensive than a cafe. When you dine in your food is served on plates and the chips come in cute Asian bamboo steamers. They have a great range of fresh seafood and the food is very good. My only complaint is that the fried fish was a bit oily. I'm sure the grilled fish would be very nice and will probably try that next time. Overall a great experience - just don't be in a rush if it's a warm Friday or Saturday night!
