Great coffee and food.Family involved I reckon which always makes for a good business. The best coffee in Carnegie for sure.Had the nicest veggie omelette ever here 1 day and now I'm hooked.

I had heard many mixed reviews for this place, apparently there has been quite a few owners who have tried to give the place a new image. I went in with no expectations, I found the owner to be really pleasant, very keen to impress! The food was a bit over priced for the basic cafe food options, but I imagine the rental for the space is the reason behind this. The cafe is large with a really nice seating area out the back, great place to grab a coffee and read a book, one of my favorites in Carnegie.

I had heard good things about this cafe, my partner and I went and ordered a big breakfast, scrambled, and a toastie. It was the worst big breakfast I have ever had, the eggs were so tough and over cooked, the tomatoes and mushrooms had no flavor and everything was just bland. The toastie was average. I will not be going back in a hurry - i'm unsure if we just went on a bad day
Approximate cost: $10-20
I am a local and vote this the best cafe providing the best coffee in the area. I like my coffee strong ,with full body but not leaving a bitter after taste or served too hot. I come here several times a week either dine in or take away as I am confident to receive consistent quality coffee and food. The new owners are very friendly and happy to accomodate any tastes/preferences. Try the chicken and avocado - i request it on gourmet multigrain bread - substantial serving size and so yum!
Approximate cost: $10-15
Nice looking spacious cafe with several seating areas both indoor and ourdoor. It's visually one of the better spots in this shopping strip. The food is pretty good, nothign spectacular. The coffee is fine. The service was friendly but except for the initial 'hello' it's almost non-existent (unless the owner serves you). The courtyard is very cute but there is an off smell - we couldn't work out of it was potplant manoure or the toilets. Since the prices are not competitive here as compared to any other good inner city cafe, I have to say it's not really good value for money.
Great coffee and a good selection of food to choose from. A good place to sit and chat. Friendly staff will see to your needs. A fantastic place to have that morning coffee on the week end with a toasted sandwich or two.
Wonderful little place - love the eating are out the back, open air but nice and quiet as it backs onto the car park rather than onto the main road. Lovely food, great service, one of my husbands and my favourite weekend brekky spots in the area.
Nice location amidst the busy Koornang street, ideal place for a break after strolling in Carnegie. Nice coffee, place is a bit small yet cozy and comfortable (i.e. nice place to chat with friends while having coffee).
The coffee was great, the food was beautiful, the service was with a smile, and the atmosphere was simply enjoyable. I would definitely go back for some more great moment. Thank You
Approximate cost: $17
although I've spent a week in this cafe it is by far the most relaxed and enjoyable place i have been to, the food is delicious weather hot or cold everything at fig jam isn't right on the money
I regularly go there for Coffee (Amanti is the way coffee beans should be), orange flour-less cake and sticky date pudding, which are all awesome in my opinion. Their coffee is Perfect*, but, like many others, they lack consistency. The barista on Sundays is the best, he makes it perfectly and seemingly all the time, touch wood. Rest of the baristas fluff it up in one way or the other, mostly by making it too strong, resulting in overly bitter after taste, but its still good than most. I just hope they are ready to serve coffee at 7:30AM. Just because they don't, I go to huff bagelry next door. I also hope they keep their prices competitive as they are. I, like most of the people, hate to pay more than $3.50 for a large latte, regardless of how good it is.
Approximate cost: $3.50
time to update the review. I guess its common knowledge that their coffee quality went down the hill in 2010.
They increased their coffee prices by over 10% few months ago but atleast coffee is better, not quote like when in 2009. I guess the new female barista (first time I ever saw a female barista at Figjam) is making the difference.
I love this place, and what's more i love the homely feel. There is always homemade Figjam sitting on the bench ready to be served with scones or croissants...hence the name!
Awesome roasted vege foccacias too!
Approximate cost: $8
Very deceptive cafe. Actually has three separate eating areas inside including covered courtyard which is very nice as well as street seating out the front. Very busy by 11.30 am on w/end. Free range poached eggs and bacon for brunch were very good. Freshly squeezed OJ with ice was excellent.
Nice looking cafe and food was quite nice but service was slow. I enjoyed the fruit toast and the coffee was average. I think they need to work on their organizational skills. They looked a little disorganized. Open for breakfast and lunch
Approximate cost: $15
A little slow for us as well but the place was packed. The vegie omelette and Figjam Deluxe was worth the wait. We wil be back.
A nice local little cafe situated on the main shopping strip of Carnegie. The food is fresh and great tasting, prices are mid-range and the atmosphere is pleasant.
Approximate cost: $10-$20
This place is great. It's got a casual, laid back atmosphere that is perfect for a light meal and a coffee while sitting back and watching the people go by. They make a mean chai latte, drool worthy cakes and sandwiches and a pretty decent menu, this place is worth a look. And a plus for all the gluten intolerants out there- they know what it is and are currently double checking suppliers and will adjust menu items for you.
Helen exudes greek-cypriot charm and warmth and along with her husband and lovely daughter zoe are a gorgeous greek family that make great coffee in this area. The only problem is that it gets a bit crowded on the weekend otherwise bravo re pethia!!
sounds great. Will have to check out this place some time.
