Woeful eye sore what a waste of tax payers money a concrete jungle why not go green add some color to the city oh wait that would be common sense
The fed. square has great energy, and you can catch lots of events, especially arts events. As a 'tourist' who used to live in Melbourne, I'm drawn to the fun and excitement of this place - a great place to meet friends and begin your catch up!
Look, it could really do with some greenery. It's a great meeting spot and sometimes has awesome entertainment and I appreciate it for that. But It's a cement slab when I think about it. Maybe some gardens and some plants would do the trick.
Love it or hate it but it's a great meeting spot and hosts heaps of events. Has a 7-11 and a number of cafes and restaurants located there. It's a Melbourne icon <3
Ugly building and not pleasing on the eye but has become a popular meeting place in Melbourne with a number of bars and cafes to choose from. Plenty of events happening here too
I absolutely love fed square. I regularly come just to see what is happening. There is usually always something happening, live entertainment, functions, festivals, it's all just amazing to witness or be a part of. When it's hot there is blue fold out just chairs that you can lay on, free wifi and it is easily accessible to everything in the city. Just across from flinders street station, there is an information centre and many small restaurants and shops on the edges of fed square all of high quality. Great place to meet up with people, it's a great location and one if my favourite places. There is parking out the back of federation square that few people know about, it's cheap and is great quality. The Ian Potter Centre is also off Fed Square and is easily accessible.
A must for any person, one of the best places, even if nothing is happening.
Always free entertainment on offer, suggest looking on the whats on in melbourne website to see whats on. From free excercise programs, to movies, live entertainment etc
Highly recommend, especially if you're visiting
This is great place, always crowded, always something happening. Lots of visitors and casual people, it is lovely atmosphere, restaurants, sitting area, large playground just a few hundred metres from there.
convenient and central location since it's right next to the main transport hub, flinders street station
there's almost always something on everytime i visit, from exhibitions to performances to random shows on the big screen (which is great in summer, beach chairs and all!)
may get too busy sometimes, but overall a decent tourist spot :D
I went to Fed Square when travelling to Melbourne to watch the Melbourne Cup! It was a rainy day which was upsetting, and there was not enough chairs to go round (we sat on the ground), but the big television was great, and so was the vibe surrounding us. There are also plently of bars and cafes around here as well.
Fed Square has always been a trendy place to meet up with people and has always been packed when there are festivities in Melbourne. Fed Square is nicer inside than outside, but that's just my opinion. I went to an art exhibit in there and everything about the place was set out nicely.
Some people love it some hate it .... for me personally I LOVE Federation Square, its a melbourne icon and a fantastic meeting place for friends so you can go out for a drink or a meal to many of the venues there.
In festivities times eg Moomba there is a real good energy vibe of people around and good place to watch well known events (eg footy grand final) on the big screens
there is onsite parking at a fee
Come along to Federation Square and experience all sorts of entertainment (mainly free). Things that are on include:- Concerts, Cultural festivals, exhibitions, event launches, performances, forums, films, concerts and fashion shows.
When everyone is around Fed Square there is a buzz around the place.
This is a must to see when you are in Melbourne.
