The restaurant is more often than not quiet. Food is great and reasonably priced. A pleasurable place to eat where customer service is quite good. Inside it is authentically decked out but the music can be annoying during a meal.

Approximate cost: $20

Given that the last review for this business was logged back in 2008, we are curious as to whether or not this business is still in operation. According to a third party, the business underwent a change in management in 2010 however we have heard little since. Does anyone else know? Reeces

I went here for my birthday & it was the worst Indian food I have EVER eaten in my life - ruined my whole birthday night out. Meat was disgusting, tough & full of gristle, only fit for pet food. Curry sauces were weird - nothing remotely like from any other Indian restaurants & had no good flavors. Extremely disappointing.

Hi Toon, thanks for another well written review. If the meat is genuinely as bad as you state, then we would not be tempted to offer it to our pets, as they too have come to expect quality. We are left wondering why the last WOMO review was conducted in 2008? Reeces

Was the 1st Indian meal we had after moving here from Melb ... and the WORST Indian meal we have ever had ... and believe me we have NEVER had ' bad ' Indian food ever in Melb.
Even right down to the rice that was tasteless & dry.
Everything we held a question mark over as to how fresh the food actually was ???? We guessed not !!!!
We purchased THREE different meals & ALL WERE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, WE JUST COULD NOT EAT IT & IT ALL WENT IN THE RUBBISH (& we were starving). *** We couldn't afford to waste money$$ like that as we just bought our 1st home : (

Thanks for a detailed review. Sounds positively terrible.

I have eaten at Deeva's several times, both take-away and dine-in. Their service has always been friendly (in a casual way) and the atmosphere in the restaurant is good. In a town where 95% of cafes serve Pizza, it is a welcome change.

Quality - We have never had any issues with the quality of the food. Very consisent and good.

Service - The service has been friendly, although usually staffed by university students, not professional wait staff. Expect friendly casual service.

Value - The value is good. There is a student lunchtime special.

Overall - We keep going back for more!

Approximate cost: $10-20

We have since stopped going to Deeva's, there may have been a change of management. Stopping the free rice with two curries was a turning point at the time.

I hate to give a bad review, but we bought takeaway from here the other night and had to throw most of it away, then go out and buy a pizza. The Palak Paneer had the taste of old fridge, the rice with peas tasted like absolutely nothing. The curry had a very strange aftertaste and gristly meat and was terribly oily. The only good thing I can say is that the service was polite and the food was ready quickly (probably because it was just reheated?).

Approximate cost: $10 - 18
