I went to Davis Monumental @ 3188 14th st Irymple; for a headstone for my late wife’s grave, Big Mistake! Because they gave me the wrong headstone and the wrong layout, and when the owners were shown the photo of the stone they put at the grave site and the photo of the stone and layout I paid for, the owner said, and I quote; I fail to see a difference! Yet the two headstones are totally different from each other! He claims to have had 30 years’ experience as a stone mason, and yet can’t tell one headstone from another I did ask the owner if this had happened before. He has refused to answer, you can draw your own conclusions from that, The headstone does not have a photo simply because the placement of a photo was not confirmed; this is verified by an email I sent them 3 days after I had made final payment on the headstone; My receipt shows full payment for the headstone was made two months prior to viewing the headstone not after, as the owner would have you believe; It was Consumer Affairs who verified Davis Monumental had a case to answer, and it was they who organised the proceedings with the VCAT Tribunal who eventually ruled against Davis Monumental, The VCAT tribunal found that they indeed did not supply what was paid for, and ordered them to pay back only $375, no more than a slap on the wrist; The Layout and urns cost me $2655, Davis Monumental are still refusing to replace the stone or refund in full the amount paid to them, and are continually distorting the true facts. The photos, the receipt and the email concerning the cancellation of a tentative order of a photo can be seen on request; So where is the justice in all this?? I guess the message is; stay away from! This Mason who Fails to See a Difference! Unless you also want, the same thing to happen to you! I went to the wrong mason!
