I attended some classes at their Malvern studio as part of a promo. The classes were pretty good fun so I asked if it was possible to get a casual pass to the classes I had been attending but was told no, it was only on a subscription for a minimum of three months.
I said that wasn’t suitable but they persisted in selling me the subscription. I wouldn’t call them aggressive exactly but definitely persistent and trying to shoot down my reasoning of not been able to attend regularly enough to make the subscription work (a certain amount of classes in a fortnightly period).
I very reluctantly signed up as I was told I didn’t need to activate it until I could manage the contract terms. Being hopeful that work would settle down in a few months I handed over my first payment.
Work didn’t settle down, and I didn’t activate my subscription so I was very surprised to find that due to a ‘glitch’ in the system it was activated for me several months later. I got in touch with the admin team who apologised and asked me to give them a date to activate it from, I didn’t as I didn’t have one. A fortnight later a direct debit of the next payment was taken out.
I sent both text messages and emails to ask them to stop it - absolutely no response. It’s a month later and still no response to any of my attempts to contact.
Given the image they market themselves as (positive, mental and physical health and well being) it’s disappointing that they are so dishonest on their business admin side and their customer service is only available if they’re taking money from you, anything else is non existent.
I enjoy the classes. Most teachers plan well and know how to run a successful class. But classes are often very full during peak times or booked out days ahead.
One look online will show that they are continually signing up 'first time members' with vouchers on discount websites, which means the quality of the service provided, and the availability of classes, is going down. They don't appear to be adding extra classes to fix this. It's angering that they don't appear to be giving proper attention to the service (for which a high price is paid) for the members that have already signed contracts.
I have been a member with Dance Dynamics for 2 years now and I must say it has turned out to be amazing. I started just wanting to try a Zumba class, but have moved on to a whole range of other styles including Barre, strength n tone , salsa and D tone. I didn't think I was cut out for dancing but the instructors have encouraged me. I mainly attend Richmond but also go to Malvern and Boxhill Dance Dynamics as well. The big bonus is I feel so fit and have lost a stack of weight. Give them a try , you won't regret it :))
Approximate cost: $22 per week for unlimited classes !
I attended a trial Hip Hop class and that was fun. However I was disappointed when they said they do not take casual payment it is all contract. It is good for someone who wants to attend many different dance classes each week, but not for someone who does not.
thanks so much for the heads up!
