We hired CMK electrical & data to reconnect a couple of fire alarms in our house. The initial quote was $600. After claiming to find other issues along the way the final bill for 4hrs of work, was $7000. I have had confirmed from 3 other electrical companies that the cost for the work completed should have been $1800 max. I believe this company uses dishonest and manipulative tactics to take advantage of people and price gouge at any opportunity. NO NOT hire CMK electrical. I sent one email and made one phone call to the company to question the price they threatened legal action. Reading other reviews, it seems clear they have a well versed system set up to attempt to frighten people who challenge their exorbitant prices or the questionable methods they use to extract payment. I hope this review stops someone else being robbed of thousands of $ like I was. Avoid CMK!

CMK Electrical & Data advertised as a local electrician on google with a 44$ call out! The operator I called knew nothing of electrical work. The electrician arrived and even before looking at anything charged me $308 to any work that they would need to do. I asked if this cost covered repair costs. He said yes. So I paid. Then he looked at the exhaust fan and said it’s dead. He said it would cost over $750 to fix. I had to say no because I would never call them if they warned me about their high costs. I refused to work with him and took the $300 hit! BEWARE!

Do not use [removed name] . Required large cash deposit (32% of the price of the job) before starting, charged for an upgrade which was unsolicited and was not legally needed for compliance of my job. Had to sign on an ipad before receiving the 8 page (!) contract, and when I reneged for good reason refused to refund my deposit. On top of the $1,150 deposit he held, he then sent an invoice for an extra $350 for the "work" involved in a $20.70 on-line application to Ausgrid. Have submitted details to Fair Trading.

Very disappointing experience with this company. CMK ELECTRICAL & DATA responded through an add on ONE FLARE .we were quoted a $44.00 call out fee to get a quote for. 1 installation of a tv wall bracket which we supplied, 2 mount our tv to the wall bracket , 3 introduce proper cable management for the concealment of cables within the wall cavity 4 relocation of a coaxial cable and suitable socket 5 supply and install 2x double power points . Both electricians were friendly and right on time . We were quoted $1000.00 which seemed expensive but we agreed to the quote because both technicians were there and ready to go.Hours later after the job was completed we inspected the required work and found a few things that we were unhappy about .1 a small hole was drilled through a nogging in the internal wall which the HDMI cord was placed through,problem is no other additional cords can be placed through this hole and if we want to replace the existing HDMI cable it would be next to impossible unless we remove the gyprock or call a professional just to replace the HDMI cord. 2. A hole was drilled through the recessed PowerPoint socket with the coaxial wedged through it instead of using a separate wall plate socket .I called the phone number on the invoice at 9pm that night to leave a message for someone to call me ,I called at this time because CMK ELECTRICAL & DATA advertise a 24/7 service .the next day I spoke to a person in charge and was spoken to rudely because of my evening phone call and was quoted another call out fee for someone to look at my concerns which I declined..we were expecting a more professional service from CMK ELECTRICAL AND DATA due to a $1000.00 we just paid .I would definitely recommend this company if you want to be overcharged and spoken to rudely. Very professional business with great pre and post visit communication. Cris provided a value for money quote before the work commenced and completed the job efficiently and to a high standard. Cris also provided some ideas to future proof our TV system and whilst we didn’t complete this wok today, we will definitely re-hire in future if we decide to go ahead with it. Thanks CMK. We will recommend you to anyone looking for someone to help with their electrical problems.

Jaye on reception was absolutely lovely and professional organising so promptly a suitable time for my antenna repairs due to work commitments.Bo the electrician was not only on time but fixed the problem in no time at all and even assisted me in organising my payment.His assistance was first rate and explained thoroughly what and why the work that had to be carried out.I would recommend them to anyone in the same situation. Worst service ever so disappointed and feel totally ripped off. Went to a large company thinking they would be reputable found not the case for us. Talked into the large booster box for reception issues. 2 months and 5 days later same problem. When I called told it was a temporary fix and we were told. Why would we pay $534 for a temporary fix. We went to them to have the issue fixed.repeatitly asked if we would be better with a new Ariel a and told no this big booster would fix issue. Now they tell me need new Ariel and cable.would not recommend except to stay clear.totally disappointed and feel ripped off

A terrible experience. Failed to give an accurate quote, charged for 1.5 hours of call-out time for a prior address and we were not advised of that either. Spent 20 minutes there but charged $280. Said that the total cost would be around $500 with a deduction for the initial charge, then wanted to charge closer to $680. Screamed at to me on the phone and did not try to resolve the matter appropriately or politely instead was defensive and rude. It would certainly have been cheaper to buy a new oven instead. Perhaps the service has gotten worse during COVID-19 due to costs of living but this is still not fair or appropriate.

I used this company to install a new power point and remove an old one they charged over $1000 which I feel is expensive, but more importantly this work affected all power points in my house and they refused to accept that the work they performed caused the problem. Got another electrician to fix the problem he said they did not do a good job. I took this to Fair Trading and it’s my word against theirs, I now need to take it further. I would not use this company.

CMK overcharged for the installation of a kitchen rangehood. I asked for a like for like one, he showed me the one he had ordered but installed an incorrect unit with no ventilation. He charged 890$ for an hours work installing an 85$ unit (was meant to install the $300 one that was originally quoted) and then placed blame on me. Left the apartment a mess and was not professional. CMK is terrible! DO NOT RECOMMEND
