It's closed, what happeded. It seems the centre management shut them down?
I don’t take this review lightly. It is after being a customer of many years, it is sad to see this store going further backwards. Yes the produce is cheap and as a result not the most fresh. I understand you get what you pay for and must go digging to find good quality vegetables amongst the poor quality though sometimes this is impossible. I am now finding their customer service extremely unsatisfactory. Ask a question, and often it is then passed on to another store person, in a foreign language, and there are no smiles in the answers, just angry looks for how dare you ask a question. More importantly, cash register dishonesty is unreal. Out of the last 10 or so visits, I have been over charged. Most I have caught at the register. Some I have not noticed till I’m home. My wife ands other local residences have all witnessed the same.
Shame on CK food store
Hi Staff are great and the food is hit and miss but I always get great strawberries, bananas and capsicums are super cheap. Yes you have to hunt but its work popping in especially as its next to Aldi. They also often have great fresh flowers.
Thanks
This is a very good place to have a look. You have to be very careful but somethings are very good quality. Very cheap prices like yellow capsicum is less than 3 dollars a kilo at Coles its 10. The herbs are very good
I shop at CK twice a week. The meat and fish are great - always fresh and not expensive. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and unbeatable prices. The range of goods is huge with everything for an Asian style meal including dumplings, sauces, and specialty gelateria products, teas, snacks - it's got the lot.
Love stopping in here!! Tons of produce, fresh seafood, huge variety of oils and dried spices, and this olive dip that is amazing (my husband goes nuts for it, it doesn't last five minutes in our house). The prices are unbeatable, cutting my grocery bills in half. You do need to watch what time you go in, if it's a peak hour it will be packed, and if it's just before they close, the staff members will all yell at you at once that they're closed. On the other hand, their seafood guy ran into the cooler to get me some fresh mussels after he had already packed them away, and in another instance, I walked away from the checkout counter mindlessly and the woman brought me the food bag I had left behind. This is certainly one of my favourites.
Cheap but quality is very poor with occasional exceptions. The stuff never smiles although works hard. Lots of dairy products on the shelves past their best before date. I don't even come near their meat and seafood - the smell is terrible and is noticeable right at the entrance to the building. They seemed to improve slightly hygiene-wise since they were fined in May 2011 but then again, I haven't been at the back of the store and the owner is known as a serial offender in this department. I stopped purchasing any food there and prefer another greengrocer's store.
Really cheap but quality of food is not always good. Ver bus a times tho but lots of stock. Worth checking out before you go to the supermarket.
The only place to buy groceries in Bentleigh Area. The cheapest and most convinient place around.
Approximate cost: $Cheap
Much cheaper prices for everyday shopping. The quality of fruits, vegies, meat and seafood overall much better than major supermarkets like Coles, Woolworths, IGA, but of course not as good as boutiques like Prahran market (which are also much more expensive).
They have lots of imported goods including canned, frozena nd exotic fruits like mangosteen. I've bought the best tangelos in town at this place - so aromatic they scent my kitchen!
You walk next door to IGA where they're sellingl rotting fruits and vegies and meat that's been packed for how long? - for steeper prices. Makes shopping anywhere else look ridiculous.
Last week my partner and I bought our week of groceries including various fresh fish, crab, oxtail and 4 bags of fruits and vegies, pasta, olives and dried fruits for $80. Go to Coles and you'd be lucky to spend under $150.
