What can I say..I've got a brivis for 25 years serviced it once 20 years ago. I call it a monster it heats up my 350 sq mtr home in 10 minutes. As long as it works I'm not touching it or servicing it.
Worst customer service ever! My builder installed Brivis ducted heating system. 5 years later the heating stopped working & I had to pay out of pocket to get a technician out + $300+ for the parts to fix the problem. 1 month later I'm hearing contiuous beep sound coming from the roof & they say I have to pay again to get a technician. That too after been thrown around technical teams & people who do not know how to speak to customers. Not recommending Brivis unless you are preapred to pay for the hassle to speak to someone & expecting unfriendly customer service.
We have bricks gas underfloor heating. It was installed over 6 years ago and it is excellent. We have floor ducts in each room and the heat is naturally adjustable. About to have air conditioning put in so hope it is as good
DON'T BUY BRIVIS
I purchased a Brivis SP530E ducted heating in 2018, which costed me nearly $40,000 including installation. As it was 4-star energy rating, I thought it would be worthwhile spending the money. However, within two months of installation, it failed 3 times and I had to call the plumber each time. It always took a while for the plumber to come out. Believe me, it was not fun to live in a freezing cold home with young children. The plumber could not find the root cause and told me Brivis had refused to come to the site to help him identify the problem.
It failed again this year (2019). An RACV emergency service man came and fixed it. He strongly advised to have Brivis to service the unit as it is still under 1-year warranty.
Guess what? When I tried to book in a service with Brivis, I was told I would have to pay even it was within the warranty period.
I am calling them again and so far I have been on hold for 50 minutes. I guess they must be receiving a lot of problem calls and complaints!
Stay tuned but my recommendation is DON'T BUY BRIVIS!!!
Approximate cost: $4000
I wouldn't recommend Brivis ducted heating. We have had the same problem as Michael 794. The electronic circuit board has had to be replace twice in five years. This time ist cost $700-.
Jeez I wish I'd read all of these comments about Brivis before I was sucked into buying one just over 3 years ago... the ducted heating unit has died because of a faulty motherboard. I contacted Brivis service in late April and they have been giving me the runaround for nearly 3 weeks now. I finally contacted the dealer who contacted them a week ago, but I still hadn't heard back from Brivis. I rang the dealer today and he said he'd contacted them and they had promised to call me within 24 hours. They hadn't. I finally got a call this arvo and they reckon they're coming out on Friday. I won't hold my breath! Talk about poor customer service... they are absolutely hopeless. This issue should be under warranty but I'm anticipating all kinds of nonsense after reading some of the stories on here.
We had an outside ducted gas heating unit, installed in 1979 which died last year. We installed a new brevis buffalo last year to replace it. It worked fine once installed last year. This year ANTS had invaded it which had clogged the jets. So it didn't work at the first sign of cold weather. It is still not working despite repeated call outs. Brevis suggested talking to our pest controller about our ant problem. We don't have a pest controller as we have had no issues with pests until we installed this unit. And who makes an outdoor unit which can be invaded by ants (no ants in second call out, just not working) and ants are not covered by warranty. Could not get anything but brevis as regional QLD. If I had a choice would have gone Bremer.
BRIVIS HX30 CENTRAL HEATING - AN UNRELIABLE PRODUCT AND POORLY SUPPORTED
I installed a Brivis HX30 central heating unit in my house 5 years ago at a cost of $4500 (for the heating unit only). Since then the electronic control board (a major and expensive component) has already failed twice. On the first occasion it was, luckily, just within the warranty period and the Brivis service person indicated it was a known fault with the system. Despite the cost of the unit, the fact it has a known fault and Brivis's website claim that their products are 'built to last', the replacement component came with only a 12 month warranty and failed again, this time after only 2 years. I contacted Brivis and attempted, on the basis of their own reliability claims for their product and that this component was clearly not 'fit for purpose' if it could fail not once but twice in 5 years, to seek some level of compensation for this very expensive second replacement. It took nearly 6 weeks, with multiple phone calls and emails on my part, to finally get an answer that they would not stand behind their product in any way. On the basis of my experience, I would strongly recommend you avoid Brivis products for your home.
Our cooler breaks down each and each they replace the same part @ $370. Parts are cheap rubbish. 3yrs ago I got my unit serviced ready gor summer but it was hot so didn't use it for 3.5mths and guess what it didn't work so it cost me over $600. I will be replacing the whole unit but definitely not a Brivis!
Hi Guys, If you have wandered here with grand plans to buy a Brivis heater, Please reconsider your decision. Its a crap business, you'd be dealing with for the rest of your life-time with this heater.
Recently, I had ordered a general servicing, the smart-ass tech left with my money and disconnecting my heater, without even informing me of the same. When I complained to the customer service, they said that it's for my safety as they found cracks in my heater's heat-exchange. Who would do such a rude, nasty deed as to leave the customer in the cold along with loot them, Brivis does!!!. Take my word, please don't go for this product.
We had no choice but to either use Brivis to repair a heating unit at our second property. We had to wait several days for someone to come out and look at the issue. Once this was done, it took over a week for the invoice to be issued. The accounts department doesn't know what the left hand said to the right and I basically had to step them right through their own processes. After having paid for the service/ repair of the unit, days later a noise was still being heard. Another visit from Brivis found that the inital service person did not tighten the fan in the heater, so that was causing the clunking.
I'm not a big fan of this company, but I can't fault them for finally rectifying issues after giving them a big shove in the right direction :-)
Approximate cost: $1000
I don't know if I can review this business because I didn't end up using them. I rang and made an appointment for them to come out. I took the morning off work. No-show. I rang to ask how long the would be and was told "We're busy. We'll get there when we can! Huff!" I waitewd for the rest of the day. No-show. I rang the next morning and told them I had to get to work so not to worry about it. They wanted to charge me a call-out fee because they "said" that they would have been out that day! Needless to say...went elsewhere
Well done for sharing your experience! Its a shame you received such bad service from them!
I have had Brivis ducted heating for 8 years and every year without fail it stops working! Same error 55 every time (although Brivis denies this). The first service was under warranty but then guess what? For the last 7 years we have had to pay for the service tech every time because it is out of warranty even though the problem was never fixed the first time!!
I'm sitting here as I do every bloody Winter, freezing my buns off! The staff on the phone are rude and make you feel like you're putting them out when you complain.
We are now at the stage where we are considering legal action against them. The service tech are always nice and polite but the phone staff (if you can get to speak to one within a 2 hour holding period) are rude and incompetent!!!
We have complained and complained and complained. Has anyone contacted us I hear you ask. Of course not!!!
Approximate cost: $1,000+
I agree with the comments about the telephone service staff. Our Brivis system has the same fault Error No 55. I too have woken up in the middle of the night freezing. The call centre service staff need training in how to appropriately acknowledge a customer's plight. The staff I talk to show no interest in how I am feeling or dealing with a broken down system. They tell me with a tone of coldness that the waiting time will be three weeks and if I don't like it too bad. It's my fault the system breaks down because I haven't had it serviced enough.

It took 14 phone calls, one fax and many, many lost hours from work to not have my central heating fixed by Brivis. With every phone call I was told that someone would ring back within 24 hours - which didn't ever happen. After the initial week someone finally came to fix the unit, got paid - and it stopped working approximately 30 seconds after they left. To cut a long story short, I was lied to, given the run around by the customer service staff, ignored after writing a letter of complaint to the management (quite a polite one given that by that point I had been without heat for 6 weeks in the middle of winter), cut off at 5pm on the phone after waiting on hold for nearly 2 hours (it was Friday afternoon - obviously the weekend was of more interest), and eventually hit up for an entirely new motor as there was "a problem with that model". Given that the model had functioned perfectly well for 10 years prior to the first visit for an unrelated problem, I was unimpressed to then have to pay an additional cost that pretty much amounted to an entirely new heating unit! Even after sending the letter of complaint I was never contacted by anyone. To cap it all off, about a month after the unit was finally fixed, Carrier (who apparently own Brivis) sent me a survey form about their customer service and my experience with them! Too disgusted to even reply.
